Re: gear knob and gaiter

Had been wanting to change mine, but it's obvously the lift up reverse of the 1.2, so is more awkward than some. I think the 1.6 is perhaps easier to replace (perhaps). Was so easy on the old Punto as well

Re: gear knob and gaiter

the 1.2 and 1.6 lift up mechanisms are identical.

Re: gear knob and gaiter

Why does everyone want to make their knob's smaller?

Mine's just not quite big enough, but all this pulling on it makes it a bit bigger.....

It does get quite hard though...

Fair do's, didn't realise the 1.6 was a lift up reverse, have seen a few Stilo's without the lift up and figured the 1.6 was one of them and thereby easier to replace.

Still though, bit annoyed you need a special tool to remove it. I guess at least it's good to know it's firmly in place though, better than having your knob come off in your hand while driving

Re: gear knob and gaiter

my knob is now screwed, glued, and solid as a rock. its shiney and nice and meaty too. shifting is sooo much slicker now as well.

i'll post up a pic when i can be bothered

Re: gear knob and gaiter

Ive got the opposite problem here, my knob has come off on its own and now flys off in your hand when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th!!

So how do you get it to stay on... silicone perhaps?

A shorter throw shift would be good mind, thats from the actual gear selector under the car though isnt it?
