the 1.2 and 1.6 lift up mechanisms are identical.

Fair do's, didn't realise the 1.6 was a lift up reverse, have seen a few Stilo's without the lift up and figured the 1.6 was one of them and thereby easier to replace.

Still though, bit annoyed you need a special tool to remove it. I guess at least it's good to know it's firmly in place though, better than having your knob come off in your hand while driving :ROFLMAO:
 
my knob is now screwed, glued, and solid as a rock. its shiney and nice and meaty too. shifting is sooo much slicker now as well.

i'll post up a pic when i can be bothered
 
Ive got the opposite problem here, my knob has come off on its own and now flys off in your hand when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th!!

So how do you get it to stay on... silicone perhaps?

A shorter throw shift would be good mind, thats from the actual gear selector under the car though isnt it?
