I need to replace the stop and tail bulb on an 03 1.6 stilo - can anyone tell me how to get at the fitting it is sitting in.

Open flap in boot and three nuts they on screws so you will need i think its a 10mm spanner it awkward but just have a fiddle around (cant go into more detail battery about to die)

There is a tool supplied in the kit in the boot specifically for unscrewing those three nuts. In the spare wheel tray look for a 6" plastic tube - one end is cut so that it acts as a spanner. A quick twist with that and then you can easily unscrew the nuts by hand.

That's news to me :confused:

Any chance of a pic ?

Easily do-able in half an hour takin it easy, even I did Wifeys, as described above just DONT DROP the nuts! Oh and get the right bulb, its easy to get the wrong one!

Crickey..... 30 minutes to replace a bulb..... at £58 + VAT an hour at my local Fiat dealer, would make it an expensive job!

I need 2 reversing light bulbs (unless something else is causing them not to work?) I havent had a look at them yet because of the weather and not having a garage.....

Are the reversing light bulbs as difficult to change? Is seems every bulb on a Stilo is difficult to get at!

Any Ninja fingers can do it faster, it was alovely day, sun shining and neighbours chatting, plus I had a cuppa after getting the lens unit off. Same process for reverse lights but check the switch too. (y)

All light bulbs have to be road side replaceable now for EU rules so they have to be include a tool to do it. Although quite how fiat think a front light bulb is replaceable without tools by someone with an average size hand, I don't know.

:eek::ROFLMAO: I see manufacturers are taking THAT seriously then.... NOT!

Just having a plastic tool for the rears doent mean its any easier to change the headlamp bulbs on the passenger side of any Stilo...:eek:

I gather this is fairly recent then as no such tool in my wheel tray :confused:

I was thinking just the same about replacing dipped beams and was visualizing:

Stilo parked by side of road;
jacked up with road wheel removed and under sill (for safety);
wheel liner completely removed
driver under wing replacing said bulb :eek:

Believe it or not, you can do all of that with the standard toolkit but not sure where you're supposed to get the 10mm & 13mm sockets to also part remove the battery cage on a JTD though :rolleyes:

I'd hate to do it in a suite as you certainly need a shower afterwards :D

I'll try to get a pic tomorrow... It really is just a plastic cylinder moulded to fit a nut at one end. The tool is mentioned in the manual in the section about replacing the rear lights - that's how I found out about it in the first place.

My Stilo is an 04 plate, so maybe it is only included for the later cars?

I think you must be right as there's no mention in my manual at all.

Would be interesting to see if it would fit into one of the spare tool clip locations though (y)
