Any experience with lamp signalization on dashboard? A have described the conditions below (in total) so you can get the idea. Is this a minor problem or not? Please, read and post.

For second time, lamp "engine fault" turns on. Both times it has happened while accelerating in 2nd gear over 4000-5000 rpm shortly (not in red rpm). Car was at regular working temperature. Also, ASR and and EPS lamps turn on, but they are off next time the car is started. But "engine fault" lamp stays turned on.

At first occurrence, after 6-7 restarts lamp turned off later that day and car was OK. Today, at morning, it has happened again and I will see if its gonna go off.

Generally, the car runs OK. Except this:

1.) Shortly after that first occurrence (that day only) car wouldn't accelerate good over 3000rpm for a short period. And then next few days it was totally OK.

2.) 4-5 days later (yesterday) I couldn't ignite the engine - it turned off twice. At 3rd ignition engine started on idle throttle at 2500rpm, went to 3000 rpm than back to 2500, then again at 3000 and so on!
I tried to drive few meters to see is it going. It did. After turning it off and on again (4th time altogether) it was OK (1000rpm down to 850) and running well. And the lamp? I didn't turn on at all!

Today, the lamp is on again but the car runs well, as I can tell now.

Any ideas? Is the fuel bad, something dirty or some real failure so I should go to service?
Last computer diagnostics (2 weeks ago) was showing that everything is fine.

Car: Fiat Stilo 1.8 16v, dynamic, 2003 November, 90.000 km

I'd say there's a good chance it's just a coil playing up.

Why not buy one and then swap between each cylinder (couple of days on each say). If it starts running fine then you've found your problem.

You're sure to need it one day so a good investment anyway (y)

I am not kind of an expert at this matter, but hope gonna manage...
Thank you.

Yes, I have found the guide. Only thing I need are the tools.

BTW: I have spoken to my friend who knows stuff about cars. I have explained him the problem, and he agrees with you.:)

Further more, he said that today many cars running on petrol have a problem that a car radio can receive interference from engine that comes from sparks and cables. To solve that, coils are sometimes made in a way to fix this.

And guess what!? :D
Coincidence or not, recently my Sony periodically started to make noises on some FM radio stations...

Conclusion without testing?

:bang:

UPS, the guide was for replacing the spark, so I thought about tools needed for that action.... I do have all I need... :D
