Before anyone says 'You shouldn't have bought them' they were bought as a gift!
I am fitting front pads and discs this weekend, and from searching the forum it would appear these are 'squealers'!
Any tips, apart from copper grease?
Any advice in general on doing this job?
I've done the pads before so am not anticipating an problems:eek:

If you've done the pads before then there's not much extra to replacing the front discs.

A word to the wise, you don't need to release the centre hub nut:)

Just the two locating screwpins and the disc is off

For a quicker job, you don't need to remove the caliper completely, just loosen the 2 caliper mounts bolts enough and the discs will slide out at an angle

The caliper mount bolts can be tough all the way so a long 1/2" drive extension bar is recommended

Remove the reservoir cap at the start. Pump the brakes after the first one to put some fluid down the line and check the reservoir isn't getting too full.

When squeezing back the caliper piston, probably with a G clamp, then give time for the fluid to return to the reservoir with a squeeze- pause- squeeze action

Pump the brakes afterwards to push the pads up the disc then recheck the fluid level

Replace the cap

they do make a racket.. mine did... took 10.000miles of running in and they are getting better... :p.. does stop well mind! all i can think is smear a really thin layer of rtv silicone sealant on the back of the pads.. as they dont come with dampening shims..

I've just fitted mintex front pads and discs on my Stilo. I read the reports of them sqealing like little piggies after I'd already layed out the cash for them so I was aprehensive but couldn't afford another set so went for it anyway.

I made sure I put plenty of copper grease on the back of the pads and also a little on the clips that hold the pads in and I haven't heard a peep out of them. I also made sure I cleaned the discs thoroughly with brake disc cleaner before and after fitting so I don't know if that helped as well.

Anyway so far so good.(y)

Just been having a clean out in my workshop and I have found an almost new set of ferudo front pads [100mls]and a hardly worn set of green stuff[500mls] all front pads will fit 1.2/4/6 stilo's free of charge if you collect and there is an oil filter [new] for a 1.6 out there as well if any of you want it..(y)
