I have an 02 plate Stiilo Abarth. Recently I've noticed when I put my foot down that both the fuel gauge and speedo flick down to zero and then immediately return to the correct reading. When I have the headlights on "auto-sense" at night, the headlights actually go out briefly when the gauges reset themselves!

Sounds like a nasty electrical fault brewing. Anyone else experienced this? Wonder if there is a problem with the alternator since this prob only occurs when you put your foot down. The resetting of the fuel gauge also ruins the "miles to empty" reading, showing 425miles on a half full tank. I wish!

Thanks, Asanga

Many thanks for the tip - I'll check the visible connections, including the battery and let you know.

Hopefully it is a simple resolution as the car is at the end of the 2 yr MFN warranty and the 3rd year dealer warranty has proven to be troublesome with previous Fiats.

Had the same problem on my Abarth, it was cured by replacing the five ignition coils. That was done over 12k ago and has not recurred.
