My dad has a 1.9 JTD dynamic MWthat is fully loaded (sky roof, electric seats, Cruise, satnav etc). Its been in today for its cambelt replacing as the car is five years old. He got a quote from FIAT main agent that told him it would be £523 including the service. We went to a pair of lads that have just opened up a garage themselves and had them do the job. Got tyhe parts incuding service items fromm GGB in bradford for £120. The lads did the cambelt fitting and service for £100 inc VAT. They also reset the service computer which is very tricky on the stilo as specialist equipment is required. Anyone interested in using thier services let me know and I'll put you in touch with em!:slayer::slayer::slayer:(y)(y)(y)

:slayer:;)No need to. My dad used to work with them as a mechanic but is retired now. One of them was his apprentice. We trust all our cars with them. They are actually are setting them selves up as Jaguar specialist as that it where they last worked and realised they could do the work themselves far cheaper for people and still make a decent profit but fair profit. But they will tackle anything that comes their way reallly. At Jag they were being charged out at over £100 an hour! My Dad is a former Ford technician as is both Neil and Stuart. They then moved to chrysler and then SEAT then JEEP. Believe me, they know their stuff and deserve to be succesfull. We insisted that they didn't do it at a "special price" just for us cos we want them to make as much of a go of it as they can. But with prices like theirs it wont take much doing. Trust me, they are way better than the young kids that FIAT seem to employ , you know the ones, the ones that you have to take the car back to several times to get the fault sorted. First time every time with Stu and Neil.;););)

JTD Cambelt Change - How much?

I’ve read several threads about cambelt changes. It looks like I’ve missed out on a bargain deal of around £150 that was on offer earlier in the year under a FiatCare offer as it seems fixed price servicing is the only thing now on offer under FiatCare.

Has anyone had a cambelt replaced recently on a 115bhp JTD? How much did it cost and what parts are involved? I understand there is a “timing belt kit” [of parts] that is fitted – does this include the water pump? If not, is it worthwhile having that replaced?

So far I have been quoted around £375 by a Fiat dealer (don’t know if that includes water pump as I got the price before researching the job), around £220 (or around £280- £300 including water pump) from an independent Fiat repairer and £125 by another independent garage having spoken to the Fiat dealer – I think they must have quoted me the RRP of the “kit” only although I didn’t query it at the time as I’d seen references to the job costing £150 in other threads.

So, to help me work out if I’m getting a good deal or not – could you share how much you paid and what did you get for your money?

Cheers.

Sounds like you got a bargain, normal service cost arond here is £250 - £300 dependant on which service and dealer you use. I was told to expect around £700 when mine is due next year but that does include a 60k service and all the associated pulleys, tensioners etc.

Who was the dealer Oakley28 - I've just been quoted £290 for service only in Liverpool at Stoneacre - declined the offer

Re: JTD Cambelt Change - How much?

I've just paid £260 for a new cam sensor and cam belt kit fitted at an independant garage

Re: JTD Cambelt Change - How much?

I think Oakley28 must have got the FiatCare promotional deal on the timing belt?
