Hi, i am new to stilo's and new to this forum, and as yet i am not sure how to use it, but here goes. I have just purchased a 2003 1.6 active and have a creaking clutch pedal which i am assuming is a worn bush or soemthing. Can this problem be cured by a diy,er or is it a fiat job. I was aslo given only one key which is blue with 3 buttons, and no key card. How do i get a replacement key or key and remote, i hope its not fiat again.
Since i have had the car i have noticed one of the parcel shelf locations as broken off, is this replaceable? Finaly there appears to be a lot of noise from the front end as if there is a faulty drive shaft or something sound a bit like the old mini cv rubber doughnuts. but can only be heard at low speeds. Is this possibly what stilos sound like?

Many thanks

Do a search on creaking clutch as it's been up a few times

Make sure it's nothing stupid like the over foot panel interfering with the pedal (mine was). It can even be the inside of the clutch slave cylinder juddering which gets transmitted up to the pedal

Key fobs are largely a Fiat only deal

Shouldn't be any noises at slow speeds

Mini donuts sounded like a duh duh duh as i recall but what do your "donuts" sound like then? Only donuts i deal with now have jam in them:)

Thank you for your reply. The creaking is definitely from the clutch pedal, and your right it is well documented in the forums. However is it a diy repair or fiat? I have managed to quieten it down by forcing grease into the back of the pedal were the push rod attaches to the pedal. As regards the noise from i think the drive shaft is like the sound you explained. I will be taking it back tomorrow as i have 3 months parts and labour warranty.
I also forgot to mention that the car as had a new clutch and as only covered 500 miles since it was fitted. I'm wandering if they have fitted something wrong? As anyone any experiance of fitting an air filter as it appears to be almost impossible to get to. Also spark plugs look a nightmare?

Thanks

The brake pedal bush wares with constant use and the only way to stop this completely is renewal and that's a pedal box out job ..plugs and air filter on the 1.6 are easy ..with the air filter you have to get under the car ..if you have an under tray take it down ..you will see a couple of clips on the air box so just force these off and open the bottom of the box pull out the old filter and replace with the new (y) for the spark plugs you will need a longish extension for this and a plug socket with a rubber suction pad in there to grip the plugs so you can with draw them out ..I found that by using a length of rubber tube over the plugs you can maneuver them back into place down there start the thread and screw them in so far before tightening with the plug socket and extension ..I do it this way because I found the suction on the plug socket so great that when I tried to pull it of the plugs it came off the extension and I had a hell of a job to retrieve it :bang: and for tightening I use a second socket without the suction pad inside it a bit long winded but it works for me :D
