Sorry if this has been posted before... seen faults with them but not the same as this....

when i go into reverse all hell breaks loose.... its real paranoid.... one minute its kicking off.... saying somethings there... then its all ok....

managed to clean all the connectors to the ecu in the boot... both the two outside sensors taken off and cleaned... but it still does it....

it didnt do it this morning on the way to work... worked fine.... same when i left work.. all seemed ok....

then as i got on the drive.... it hasnt a clue..... it did the same outside a mates house too..... its usually after a run.. never before....

only thing i notice is that one of the faces to the sensors are silver...(as in metal... not painted) and all the rest are matt black...

even did a CAN scan to look for faults but it hasnt any....

anyone got any advice....

might have to pick one up ..... to test each one.....

Steady on son, jumping up and down wont cure anything. A job like this needs to be thought about, you dont just rush in like a bull in a china shop. You have to think methodically and eliminate the possibilities.

Aint I a stinker(y)

Ok you need to check the ecu connections for tightness and cleanliness. (already done)

Each sensor has its own connector which you have to do the same on.

On the offside behind the bumper there is a 6 or 8 pin connector block which can sometimes become corroded due to water ingress, check this also.

Lastly a little hint for you, the sensors make a ticking sound when they are working, if you test the system and find one not ticking then this is the sensor causing the problem, move the non ticking sensor to another position to eliminate a wiring fault on that circuit.

Good luck

haha.. sorry for the impulsiveness.....MY BAD!! NumanR... Im an electrical engineer by trade...(not a sparky) and when you become baffled by such a small thing its so annoying ... I fix/maintain all means of industrial Machinery.. but cant sort a bloomin parking sensor... :bang: typical....

yup.. they're all ticking... ive checked for continuity on all cables.... cant find correct figures for resistance continuity on the sensors themselves can't sus it.... I was possibly thinking heat generated by the exhaust could throw the sensor... so have switched the outer two left to right ... right to left... just to see if one is throwing a wobbler....

cheers for the replies people!!

Sorted... new sensor fitted.. rewired all the loom and retaped up.. Jobs a gud'un...

you dont realise how handy useful threads can be!!! couple of searches and back bumper was off and back on in under 35 mins..

2 new fiat parking sensors for 24quid and postage of 10.. is that quite good??

I may be asking where you got those sensors... when I select reverse I instantly get continous BLEEP  Turn round in my seat / crane me neck round and there is nothong behind me  Just off to check for ticking... :)

I live in spain were the car s just bump in to the one in font and and the back to park in a place when the bump stops your'll park no sensors... needed ...ha ha

Parking Sensor off e-blag 14 quid (thanks for the PM Steely (y)) + 5.30 odd for replacement for bust shroud off Fiat locally... about 20 minutes of fumbling on the drive later and it was fitted... daint even have to remove the bumper :D

Sure is cold lying on the floor out there

Yup pain in the ar$3.. glad i didnt get it lowered too... was one of the two middle ones that packed up on mine... so had to unscrew bumper form behind one wheel arch and ontop and underneath so i could swing it out...... took loom off completely and shrink tubing'd it:D all good(y)

Get a trailer hook instead. Analogue parking sensor which work every time, and handles a beating aswell.

Morten.

:D:D thing is it would be sods law i hit parents car!!...

i was confident at reverse parking before having a motor with parking sensors... but now i cant stand not having em... i just like seeing people faces in other cars as they think your gonna hit em... haha

i can drive like that anyway and stop within a few cm's of peoples cars , just cos i can.

low speed parking and manouvres are one of my good driving points (y)

Thankfully mine was driver side outer, not lowered but have towbar in way! All sorted, bleeping marvellous over the weekend - Cheers Steely! :D

Don't have any problems parking a Stilo as my previous 1.6 daint have parking sensors, just that the constant bleeping on selecting reverse was driving the kids nuts! :D
