Has anyone ever had their Stilo actually stolen?
As for breaking into one, am i being too cruel with a can of Mace pepper spray on the dash wired up to blipper controlled pressure sensor on the driver's seat?
Cheap, effective and so much more fun:D

You almost want to leave the doors unlocked

You cant do that Decks you would be breaching their fundamental human rights

That's a very good point Decks. I think any Stilo is pretty much un-stealable :) I suppose you could drag one onto a trailer or hoist one onto a truck but that's about it.

Getting into one is a different matter. Deadlocks will certainly make it difficult but wont actually stop someone from getting inside and the problem here is that when you do return you're going to find your motor with doors still shut but otherwise in one hell of a mess

Ultrasonic protection is only slightly better as you're still going to come back to a broken window :(

This leaves perimeter protection (you get this with the factory fitted alarm) which stands a good chance of scaring the blighters away before they break a window or do much other damage.

You fancy posting some pics of your pepper spray deterrent? :D

I wouldnt say that nothing is unstealable anyway when they are driving it around and giving your car a right old ragging Argo they will soon be glad to return or dump it with all that beep beep beeping going on they will say jees all this beeping is driving me nuts lets go and nick a scooby :D

It would actually be pretty funny to put a Stilo in one of those stupid Hollywood films where they hot wire the motor in about 30 secs flat :D

“Hurry! Get us out of here!”
“Hang on!”
Beep Beep Beep - “Power Steering Failure”
Beep Beep Beep - “ABS Failure”
“Stop fooking about!!”
“Nearly got it”
Beep Beep Beep - “Power Steering Failure”
Beep Beep Beep - “ABS Failure”
Beep Beep Beep - Beep Beep Beep - “Security Failure”
Beep Beep Beep - Beep Beep Beep - “Return to Dealer”
“ARRRRRRRRGH!!!”

LMAO Argo that was funny

Well indeed, you lot moan about the Stilo so much but one day, when some chav tries to steal it and he gets "Engine Failure, return to dealer" you'll be changing your tones! :p

Argo, with reference to the ordering of another BC, I discussed this with the whole Sat Nav installation thing (hence the requirement for a time delay), so it looks like ANY option on the Stilo is the same (I was kinda hoping that the alarm wouldn't be as the alarm is controlled on Serial-K, not the CAN line). Ah well . . .

Idea; wouldn't buying the aftermarket siren unit but using your sensors work? Then it would look and work like the original, except you wouldn't get any failure messages on the dashboard (well I presume, unless the aftermarket unit can transmit this on the CAN line).

Ok, gonna drag this up again as my bro wants to fit an alarm on his Stilo (he's already done CN+ and the Start Button, which I now have too :D).

He's looked at one on ebay, and the guy selling it says that you have to go to a FIAT dealer to have the Body Computer changed to activate it.

T14086, is this so? When you've fitted them, does this need to be done?

Argo, where abouts did you plug in your siren? The factory siren is fitted under the scuttle on the drivers side, and the connector it uses is extremely generic; plugging it in and causing "Rain Sensor Fault" sounds like it went into the wrong one (logic being that the Rain/Dusk sensor is CAN controlled and the alarm is on the SERIAL-K line, so somehow that connector must be interfacing to the CAN, hence it was the wrong connector).

We're determined to get a factory look installation :D

Sounds like this guy knows something which nobody else on the planet does  I’ve had two dealers look at mine (one for an hour) and they both hit a :bang: . The nearest solution was to order a new BC from Fiat but with the alarm option active. The problem here is that there’s no such ordering option. As you’ve stated yourself the only BC you can order is an identical copy of the one you already have.

My gut reaction is that there must be a hardware mod to the BC which can resolve this but first you need to find someone with the knowledge to do it.

Definitely fitted correctly now. If you read back you’re see I tried to fit the META Alarm siren (it looks identical but isn’t)

Sometimes it pays to read the manual as it's now clear the CAN system doesn't work the way I though it did!

Having gone through eLearn it would seem that although the siren supplied with the META alarm kit is identical to the factory fitted siren in every respect externally (including having an identical wiring socket) it's actually wired quite differently internally.

This is the difference:

META Siren
1. +12V
2. -0V
3. Bonnet tamper to 0V
4. Control line to alarm module

Factory Siren
1. +12V
2. to body computer and then onto alarm module in header console
3. -0V
4. NC

I've decided to try it once more with a factory fit siren.

The other good news is the discovery of the wiring for the bonnet switch which is a 2-pin plug just behind the left light cluster.

this is right,
META Siren:
1. Bonnet tamper to ground
2. Control line to alarm module
3. -0V
4.+12V
