If you hover over the code number, it should show it's meaning. They're not always dates, they can also refer to engine, chassis or spares number for change points.
.
Thanks Davren, I didn't try that!
Alright haxman hope everything's going well with your conversion!
All done mate!! Well nearly, just got to do some tidying tomorrow, but its all in and working

Phew! Its a good days work isn't it! Thanks so much for the guide you posted, it was spot on. I don't think I'd have attempted it without reading about someone elses success first.
After I'd got it all in and 90% back together I put the battery on, turned the key on and hey presto, it all lit up and worked. Climate control unit all works and connect nav fired straight up. I did get a couple of warning messages though, one saying airbag problem, and the other saying sensor fault. Not sure why this is yet, but hopefully I'll sort it without too much problem.
I need to put some coolant in tomorrow and finish a few little bits off, centre console still has to go in etc but it has all gone relatively well. I need to put on the 11 button steering wheel as I've got the 6 button one on for the minute as I needed to fix paddles on the 11 button Selespeed wheel before I fitted it. I know they wont do anything on my car but I like clicking them, and I quite like the idea of wiring them up to do something else.
You're right that I don't have aircon, but it's not needed to run the digital climate control - it still gets heat through the coolant pipe and also blows cold air when wanted.
I need to look into getting mine recharged now.
Everything is plug and play, I've not proxy'd yet but it's all running sweet!
I've seen people talking about proxying, afraid Im still not sure what it is!? Is it plugging a computer in and telling the cars computer that new stuff has been added, stop the flashing mileage issue?
Do you know if your JTD is predisposed with the cruise control wiring up to the steering column? Should be easy to tell with all the interior bits of, and if it's the case then it would be worthwhile swapping for the Abarth stalks. Is the Abarth lower mileage? If so then stick the clocks from it in yours.
Yep I'm one of the lucky ones, I checked a few days ago. The Abarth has 30k more miles on it so I kept my lower mileage stalks and just swapped the C.C stalk over onto them. Unfortunately the Abarth is higher milage and I believe the milage cant be back dated?? so I need to find a set of Abarth dials now with under 80k on.
The aerial is only for the radio, next to the antenna connector is a grey and green connector - these are for the microphone and gps, you can bump these off your donor

I need to get a mic for mine still.
Yeah I fitted the Abarth GPS aerial onto the roof in place of my aerial. Whilst I was digging around under the headlining at the back I found that someone had unscrewed the motor for the sky window and left it unfixed

glad I found that before it lead to any expensive problems!
Actually i believe the green and grey connectors are for phone aerial and GPS aerial, the mic connects via the white connector block behind "my car"
The green and grey cables for GSM and GPS run from "my car" down along the bottom of the drivers door, past the back seats, into the boot and up the pillar into the roof, where as the radio aerial runs up the A pillar by the windscreen (same as mic) and across the headlining. For the green and grey connector block wires to save removing all the trim, panels and unclipping it to remove it from the Abarth I chopped off the connectors by "my car" and pulled the cable through from the boot. From the back of the car I dropped the headlining down just enough to change the aerials over, and I fed the wires across the headlining to the front. I dropped the head lining by the drivers door and pulled the cable through then fed it down the A pillar. I now need to either; open up the connectors I chopped off, clean them out and refit them back onto the cables, buy new connectors, or solder them back together. I'd like to open them up and reuse the connectors and cutting the cable to the right length, but im not sure how they come apart yet, I'll have a closer look sometime soon.
I swapped the mic over so that should all be connected now.
Personally I found the swap of the dash looms very straight forward. Once the old one is out lay it out and compare it to the Abarth to see how to fit it. I started from the passenger side and work along, if you kept the black clips intact on the loom then these will clip in as the old one was making it more difficult to fit it wrong! It will make it easier to remove the fusebox from the dash frame to get enough space to plug in that part of the loom, then bolt it back onto the loom. Make sure the earth points are secure when you fit the new ones off the Abarth loom (around the bottom if the heater matrix).
Yeah pretty much the same way I did it. Yep I reconnected the earths by the airbag ECU, and the drain pipe from the matrix too, I assume its a condensation drain or something similar?
Regarding the issue of the extra airbag plug, how was the airbag wired on the Abarth? Where did the second plug go? I would say your airbag ecu will only receive a signal from one of them connectors.
Me being silly! The actual airbag module does have a lead going to each end of it hence 2 leads. This is what I unplugged to begin with. About 18" down the leads, they join into 1 plug on the loom as in your pic (clips onto the top of lower glovebox). I didn't notice this to begin with.
There is a guide on here for retrofitting electric seat wiring, from memory I think you need to swap in the rear fusebox at the rear passenger wheelarch and stick the wiring in, then solder one of the wires to a nearby can line (at the interior fusebox at the steering wheel). Might be more to it but I can't remember.
It should be straightforward enough to remover the leather covers and swap them with your cloth ones, but with a job like that patience and due care will reward you
OK thanks, I'm not sure I'm going to use the seats actually, the foam has gone a bit on the drivers side, I know you can repair that, but I'm still not sure whether to use them yet or not. I'm quite happy with none elec seats although I would like the heated option, so I can keep the take away warm on the way home.
You will find the connect nav a more powerful headunit to the one you've
got, it certainly sounds good in my car (you can manually adjust a multi band equalizer and select a "loudness" setting, features which I love

), everyone that gets in my Stilo now think that I've got some sort of beefed up sound system lol
I can wait to start playing with connect nav and all its features, and it looks so cool too lol. My Abarth had full Bose system in it too, I've swapped over all 4 fronts, need to do the rears and then try and get my head around the wiring for the Sub! Will have a look at the wiring in the Abarth as I disassemble it.
The RDS feature is a nice touch, and to have the name of the contact you're phoning show up on the dash display is pretty neat. I should add that until you find some way of getting the code (or re installing v9.8) then you wont be able to use your CN+, so have some plan ready in time for you using it.
Its so annoying I haven't got the Code, I've got so much paper work with the Abarth, all the manuals etc but no code, I assume it came on a card or something? I reckon I'll 9.8 it tomorrow, (Davren sent me a link for it) then I'll look into getting the code from a dealer. I'd prefer to have it properly installed, besides I can see me having to disconnect the battery quite a bit here and there for different jobs that still need doing and I'll soon get bored of having to install 9.8 every time!
That's about as much as I can think of whilst on this nightshift lol I hope you pull this off! Is the weather being kind to you?
The weather over the weekend whilst I was stripping the Abarth was freezing cold, but the weather today on "make or break day" was lovely, sunshine all day, good day all round!
I did this in December in 0 degree weather outdoors in the rain/ sleet/ snow, but it made it the bit more rewarding in the end
Too right mate good effort! I'm remembering trying to get to the water and aircon pipes off on the Abarth to get the matrix out, there is literally no space at all, and I cut my hands to bits, but it was all worth while now.

Im so grateful for your guide, it really helped so thank you. I'll upload some pics sometime soon...
