This may be an old chestnut....but is there anyway to warn posters if the last post in a thread is older than a certain age? It's a bit embarrassing when your well intentioned post is directed at a problem from 5 years ago.

Few months would be plenty.

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
Also I don't think you can see the dates on m.fiatforum.com which might be part of the problem. Either way, as long as your reply is relevant - even if the thread is 4-5 years old - I don't see the issue. Sure, some people like to do the whole "where the hell did you dig up this old fossil" thing, but that's part of the fun :p

What does the age of the thread matter if its a relevent post

Good point. I suppose it depends on whether you think you are helping a person, or solving an issue when you post.

Looking through a number of these threads, it seems most people post to help the OP, rather than to solve an issue.

I suspect that people search on an issue that's hot for them at the time, then post a reply. Maybe they wouldn't want to do that if they knew it was old. But maybe the forum would be less rich as a result?

Looks like I have come full circle!

its annoying when people post up a thread saying
I agree - or i'd try a new coil pack - when the issue has been solved 4 years ago

Now i dont disagree if somebody does a cracking post with a guide on how to

But when people who restore and dont develop the thread - a zombie warning would be nice
Even if its a simple
This thread started @ Xx/xx/xxxx
Last post was @ Xx/Xx/Xxxx
Do you wish to continue would all is required
if it was a year old since last post

ziggy
