Just an idea, not sure if its possible or not but i think it would be a good idea to be able to tag people in posts.
Eg, someone wants to know how to turbo an engine, you could tag someone you know that has done it so they get a notification about it so they can respond and let them know about it
Ideas?

:)

Usernames don't need a semicolon after them, just the @ is fine.

For some reason, hashtags do .. :shrug:

Ahh now that makes sense then. I think this should work well, just hope the members read this so they know what is going on when they see more options in the quick links :p

I don't understand the hash tag thing can someone explain what the point is bearing in mind i have never used twitter :(

on twitter if you use a hashtag then that tweet can be read by anyone in the world, you get trending hashtags usually tv shows and things where everyone can talk about it.

on the forum when you click on the hashtag it will show you all the posts that people have used that hashtag.

so if i put #geek

then there should now be two posts shown when you click that link

So it could help with things like events if someone is talking about say Stanford in the punto section but hash tags it then everyone can quickly view whats being said about an event without trailing through the forum :D i like

Bit of a hiccup going on seen in these posts https://www.fiatforum.com/leisure-lounge/297305-fish-tank.html?p=2992820
Attempting to tag unknown being and it just tagged unk
and also

Tried to tag dragon man and just tagged dragon

Not sure what can be done though :confused: i think speech marks might make it a bit complicated tbh like for example I will tag Ben But it would have to be @"Ben"

Edit, it did it there, tagged ben b instead of just the boss man ben

I think it gets confused with ben because his name is an autolink anyway.

Aha, had to open another browser to check that out, doesn't work on IE8.

EDIT: Your name doesn't work with them either.

@Eklipze3k

It works like this: {MENTION}Eklipze3k{/MENTION}

But not by just clicking the button.

It's an issue where a user has a space in their username, not much that can be done about it unless we turn on the delimiter (need to put ; after the name)

If you need to mention a user with a split name, use mention tags (mention)username(/mention) - but replace the ( ) with [ ].

Noticed this a few times, instead of having to use the mention bits can we not use the "delimiter" because what if we dont realise that the user name has a space and tag someone completely different so when we tag if we use the ; after then it knows that is the end of the tag instead of trying to guess if someone has a space.

Hope that made sense, im sleepy :eek:
