Tuning & Modifiying section - Poll.

There are seperate sections on the site to talk about ICE, Bodywork, Satellite Navigation, Security etc. but there's no specific section for those that like to tune/modify their cars to swop idea's, info and show off their creations. I know many on here(myself included) consider Blue Neons and dustbin sized exhaust pipes a waste of time but many others like these things so how about we give them an area to play in, might visit it myself if some serious tuners use the area(remaps, turbo upgrades etc.). Many modifications are universal and not model specific so I think a Tuning & Modifying section would be benificial to like minded members.

Do you think the site should have a Tuning & Modifying section.

1. Yes
2. No
3. Don't Care.

No

Keep model specific tuning in the appropriate section

What do you want to discuss generically?

I really don't see the point to be honest.

Re: Tuning & Modifiying section - Poll.

Ditto, if people want info on doing up their own car then their own section is the right place to look, if you want to see what other people have done with theirs then Members Motors covers it pretty well imo. Any further in depth on a particular persons car, I guarantee a search of their section will bring up the posts explaining how they've programmed their ECU, or routed fuel pipes internally, or who they got to build their cage. All the information is there, and much easier to find when it's model specific. All another section will do is create another place for noobs to put their first post in the wrong place!

Re: Tuning & Modifiying section - Poll.

Another section to either duplicate all the posts using the tuning prefix already in the model specific sections or just to split them up into more sections to help make them harder to find.

For any thread on this forum on tuning and customisation that could work in a section for all models there are 10 that are model specific.

Punto HGT engine only appears in the Punto
1.2 8v is only tuned in any serious manner by the Cento guys
20VT only appears in the Coupe. (in Europe anyway)

Suspension fettleing is model specific.
Bodykits and such are model specific.
Any custom bodywork can be put in Bodyshop section.

The only benefit I can see from another section duplicating information already with a home is making the forum more confusing.

Same as the others, no need to have one. The only way I can see it working well, to keep search results to a minimum is have a dedicated tuning & modifying section IN each models section, maybe as a sticky at the top, or so when you click the model you get a choice of say, "Tuning" or "General Topics"

As long as people have selected the right prefix, you can filter them using the options at the bottom of each section

Re: Tuning & Modifiying section - Poll.

Instead of spreading Tuning and Modifying info all over the site making it difficult to find, put it all in a "Tuning and Modifying" section with "general" and "model specific" areas contained in it? All the info tuners and modifiers could want kept in one place making it easy to find?

Not wanting to repeat myself but:

May be if it had been called "Tuning & Customising" in the first place members(and MODs) would have used it solely for that purpose and not for anything technically orientated?

I guess it would attract new members as most Fiat owners interested in tuning/customising thier cars use other sites because that sort of info here is difficult to find.

How about a month long poll, let members vote on it?

1. Yes
2. No
3. Don't Care.

So your complaint really, Shadey, is not how the forum is laid out, but more that people are stupid and use it wrong. Nothing new there ...

Which they rarely do.

So you want to drop the tuning prefix?
