In certain threads, there are some posts that need to be continually updated to contain new information, which necessitates "quoting" and "requoting" the same post just so that a new name, a new time or a new car colour (just loose examples) can be added or something amended.

In such a case if the thread originator was able to include a post that could be edited by all involved to reflect the new info and if that post could be made to show as a new post to those that are subscribed each time it was edited it would save a lot of reposting.

You can do this in the events section with the initial thread/post and I wondered what other people think or would it prove to be just something that trolls would mess with just because they could.

As an example there are times when an impromptu local meet might be arranged that doesn't merit a new thread in the events section but would require the "attendees" to list their names, cars, ETA etc. which could all be done in here.

Editing is limited to a certain time to prevent people removing or changing content which either leaves the thread confusing, or contains naughty content which is difficult to spot!

If a post contains content which needs to be edited - such as the list of cars many of the forums have - the best way is as they do it - to quote the previous version and add/modify as required.

I think guides should be permanently editable by the author.
Theres one in the Bravo section that says use torx bits when it should be ribe bits, no one has amended it. I made a mistake in one of my guides aswell

Its incorrect information written in stone.

Ive had five mods waiting for approval for at least a month. I really like the
garage and want to put all my mods In the garage so other members can clearly see what ive done. But nothing is getting approved, so I can not add my mods.
I am sure only Ben can approve mods, and he is travelling at the moment.

I am sure it will all get sorted once he is back up to speed.

I have to say I've noticed that, afaik Ben is the only one who can approve mods and he's M.I.A. at the moment.

Edit: Damn, beaten to it :p

Can't Ben give Super Mods the power to approve mods?

I think this would be sensible. Ben is away an awful lot and if something needs to be fixed immediately and he's away/unreachable then the forum could be down for a long while in an extreme case, which happened a couple of years ago.

Also, there are some threads which having a much longer or disabled edit time limit would be useful. For example, there's been talk of a freebie thread in the Cento section. This would work much better IMO if the original posts in that thread can be edited and delted when all the items have been gone by the OP, rather than giving the mod unnecessary work.
