I am wondering if there is a way that the site can have an user filter installed. As when I joined the forum, after reading the threads for a while, it appeared to be one of the friendliest and easy going forums I had come across. But I must be honest and say there is a certain user, sorry to be so specific to say just one but that is the way it appears to me, that if the user response to a thread it is to put down someone, preach to or generally be looking to cause an arguement.
I enjoy the site to much to stop coming on here but I am finding it increasingly difficult not to get involved and lowering my self to respond.
Hope this enquiry has not offended anyone but if this facility existed deleting threads and locking threads could be avoided by people ignoring those looking for arguements.

It is already there - go to USER CP, under miscellaneous is Buddy/Ignore lists - enter the said person in IGNORE list and that person disappears from your sight :)

Thx for the quick response (y)
If I had used my eyes a bit better there would of been no need for this post:eek: Sorry.

wonder who this is about

Gaz; i also thought this was just for pm's i didnt realise it would mean all that persons posts wouldnt be seen by u

No idea! I wish people would say things TO ME rather than on the open forum first, they I could have put my point accross.

Fortunately I do believe I have enough friends on here (Well, i think :p) to not take this too badly.

we know your nice paul and you have helped me out quite a few times with your knolage and looking stuff up, not your fault if people take you the wrong way IMO, :)

Cheers Dave :)

Simply because I have a very law abiding attitude and am not afraid to place that on others on here, because I know a 1.1 cinq can't outrun a TT and a Doblo a Scooby. Just because I often have varied opinions on a matter and don't know very much about cars, nor find the Fiat marque the best marque in the world, doesn't make me a bad person. Because I know there are problems with the Stilo and feel like I want a chance to put my case forward when my name is tarnished with bad feedback again, doesn't make me a bad person. I say what I think, if i think somebody is a socially inept dickhead through racing on the roads through rain and night at high speed, I don't believe that again makes me a bad person. The difference is, I make my opinion clear.

As Dave has pointed out, I am a real person. I have been a bit annoying recently I do agree, that's because I have been going through a lot of life changes, have been ill and ratty and have also not been getting a lot of sleep. I have made some apologies for this. If i was as bad as you have made out in your post (which I would have liked you to PM instead) I wouldn't be good personal friends to some members on here.

I hope you make your choice whether to ignore me as a user and it's the right choice.

I also believe that despite my numerous faults I do have a lot to offer on FF and a few would agree, even if it is just my preaching on speeding, against dangerous driving and arguing against people who don't have the interlect to own/drive a car. Some would also say I offer a lot in terms of my academic knowledge.

from a personal opinion i like paul and have always got on well with him, i know some people can take him the wrong way but i have never had a problem with him.

from a moderator point of view its better if anyone has any greivences with eachother then leave it to PM or send a PM to an appopriate mod, this aplies to everyone really.

I am sorry if my post has caused any problems or ill feelings as that was not the intention it was just that in the last week or two, do'nt hold me to that may be longer :) there has been a thread deleted, and one locked because of disagreements and I just thought by having an ignore button people could follow the thread but not have to read the opinions that was causing the problem and causing the friction.

As you can see I have not ignored you as a user ( even though I was trying to keep it non personal ) as some of your posting are quite informative and entertaining.

As for stating your views, no problem, (anyone that knows me will tell you I am very out spoken with my opinion of things - may be a bit to much in common) it does not make you a 'bad person' something I did not accuse you of being. But I believe telling someone once they are wrong is okay but repeatedly doing so is over kill and gets no one any where.

I believe everyone knows when they have done wrong and to have someone repeatedly telling them so allows only one option 'the arguement' . Now we know the ignore could stop this:)

So lets give everyone credit we are all intellegent in our own way noone likes being nagged or put down.

Sorry it has come to this, if I had used 'my intellegence none of this would have seen the light of day.

And Paul, if this was a personnal attack I would have named you or contacted you, I have no ill feelings towards you at all just wanted to find away to cut posts that were getting me going without resorting to replying on the forum which would make matters worse. I do not enjoy seeing people belittled we all have some one better than us.

Please forgive the rambling I will not post on this again ( not in public anyway :D )

Steve

An interesting one this...

We just had a management lecture, and one of the things which came up in it was peoples reluctance to conflict, in the belief conflict is always bad.

I however believe conflict can be constructive, I don't mean muck slinging, I mean a debate of differing opinions, which I feel helps us to develop.

As for Paul, he is a member I have always admired, mainly because he has an opinion and stands by it.

In my opinion, Pauls arguements are usually reasoned and based on his views of the law, morality and common sense.

By placing his views on an open forum, they are open to criticsm from any corner. This is fine, and I believe keeps the forum interesting.

I believe there is only truely a problem when it decends to personal name calling, personally, I don't care what anyone calls me but I can undertand how this would upset people.

Just my opinion though ;)
