Right, i think its been discussed before but due to a recent trend maybe time to bring the discussion back up.

Proposition: A section to discuss non fiats maybe with a sub section of Non-Fiat Members Motors

Reasoning: Alot of people have been getting non fiats recently and i think we do have alot of members who are into cars as a whole and not just the one fiat brand. These people are being put down by the 'one brand' owners and are also aggrovating these people by having discussions relating to non-fiat vehicles. With a non fiat section people with non fiats will be gain the ability to;

1) Show others their car (and get feedback - as Members Motors already does, however without the criticism purely because its not a Fiat)
2) Discuss non Fiats without causing offence to those who dont want to read anything that has something to do with any other brand.

This would also be a good solution to those who are against anything other than Fiat because:
1) It will have its own section to showcase non-fiats in. And will make it easily identifiable as a Non-Fiat thread should the member wish to avoid them. (Similar to the *Non-Fiat Warning* which we seem to have adopted in members motors)
2) It will keep any discussions relating to non Fiats out of the other Fiat sections, whilst still giving the owners somewhere to talk to each other or seek help (y)
3) This would also give FF a good basis to retain members who may have moved on cars (There are other cars out there other than Fiats which offer better options or suit the need more)
4)FF could continue the community spirit through to the members who have moved on and may require some advice to do with their non Fiat and we have the knowledge base on here to assist them :)

I am willing to listen to any constructive criticism however would prefer not to listen to comments purely putting down non Fiats :)

i think it would be ok but in the donated members section only, so only people dedicated to the site can use it.

but if its going to have comments like
ah a propper car or that is better than a fiat

then i dont think it will go down too well.

if people who have got rid of their fiat but still contribute to the forum in some good way then yes i think we need to keep then, but if all they stay for is to stir stuff up then they wont be needed by the other members

I can see where that would be useful for all the points given above.

However, it is the Fiat Forum. So technically if people are putting non-fiats down on there Fiat Forum which is designed for Fiat lovers, you cant really blame them! :D

Think between the posts by Alex and Dave they have said it all. Providing the non-fiat section doesn't become a 'This is better than a Fiat because...' or just a general Fiat flaming zone then I agree. Especially like the idea of it being for donatees only. Proves they are a true forum member.

The reason i think it would be an asset is because it would avoid conflict between Fiat owners and non fiat owners imo :) as people who dont want to read about non Fiats could stay out of the non-Fiat section, and likewise those who want to discuss non fiats can keep it to the relevant section (y)

Also shows to newbies that we arnt just fiat royalists and we do have a interest in cars in general and can appreciate a good car even if it is not a Fiat etc :) as well even before i had the Pug i enjoyed the diverse viewing when browsing through non fiat threads :)

Either subsection of MM would be good or a new section below Fiat Cars/Fiat MPV's/Fiat Commercials, then have Non Fiats and all non fiats discussion and all non fiats members motors or similar?

To be honest i know you wont all agree but i dont think anyone is out to stir trouble, not long term members anyway :)

This is a good idea a lot of us will have access to more than 1 car,and they arent always going to be a fiat.Dont think it will degenerate into a this is better than fiat debate not from genuine motor enthusiasts, would like to see them mentioned in new posts etc though, if not looks like you are embarassed to 'promote' the feature.

Same as you would for the badly titled threads and threads in gaming or photo sections :)

But as long as posts titled well (most of the time :)) then doesnt matter anyway... but on the rare time it isnt its like when there's a post in marea section which wouldnt interest some but they can then check and see if they want to view it :)
