While we're on the topic, we deperately need a text-talk filter please. Replace it all with amusingly random words so nonsense posts become even more nonsense ;)

im guessing that it'll be quite ard an da txt filta would not be able to differentiate between different words.

:D

What about those of use who's spellings not up to scratch? It is annoying when someone txt speaks through a whole post, generally they dont get many answers so are self destructive.

;)

read first :p :p

I'm not picking on people :( But whole threads of text talk annoy the hell out of me, might as well be in Russian and it's so lazy and ignorant and gives the forum and poster a poor image.

have to agree.

Although it's normally newbies who do it, but they soon learn to actually type properly (y)

optional profanity filter is a great idea. (y)

txt spk is really annoying, but it is also useful, it tells me i'm dealing with someone who is young, dumb, and has very limited understanding the english language. i can then adopt my reply to avoid long words and complicated ideas, giving the reader half a chance of understanding me without consulting a dictionary or googling it.

if idiots could hide behind an automatic txt spk converter i may mistake a fool for someone with a brain, and that always causes confusion for both parties.

:yeahthat:

Txt Spk on any forum annoys the hell out of me. It's lazy and inconsiderate, as well as being difficult for some people to understand. Jug does have a point though in that a text filter that replaces 'txt' with real words might actually make some dumb illiterates appear more intelligent than they actually are :p

I have to admit that I don't bother to reply to some posts BECAUSE they've been written in text speak. If someone wants advice or information they have to write properly for me to respond ;)

Swear filter? P1$$ off! (lol! - oops, txt spk!) There are already some loopholes regarding the current filter, but in general it works well. However, pu$$y is NOT a swear word but if I write it properly - ***** - the txt filter thinks it is? Yet 'bastard' is allowed??? :nutter:

Swearing doesn't bother me if it's done in moderation. Excessive use of profanities in one post can be offensive though. Optional use of a swear filter is a good idea (y)
