You hope

Its hardly like vauxhall are a bench mark for build quality as well

The Grande punto is a huge improvement over fiats of old IMO it feels solid and secure.....I personally dont think the corsa will be the class leader and i dont think the punto is either, the only thing the punto leads the class in is styling IMO.....At the moment the clio is probably the best all rounder car in the class, but i dont like it. I dont like the way it looks, i hated the interior and its french.....

The corsa will slot in as another average car in the class i reckon, not bad but nothing special

Yes i'll agree with that, theyve kinda made the new clio a bit better looking...

but how will it compare if the corsa vxr and grande punto abarth both come out with the rumoured 220bhp? should be interesting!

Just digging this thread up as I've seen the final pictures of how the new Civic Type-R will look. And guess what? Smaller wheels and higher ride height ;)

How they said it would look:

How it actually looks:

I'd like to think that the unique bit of technology that is Blue&Me is gonna be kinda of exclusive to the GP for certainly the short-term. Does anyone know whether Vauxhall are gonna be offering it on the new Corsa???....i f*cking hope not!!!

Would be interesting to know...

Simon.

the corsa has some infotainment system i was reading about, but it appears the phone still has to sit in a cradle (well from the pics ive seen it is) so i dont really know how its going to work, will have to take a look at the vauxhall dealer when its out. If i can bare to go in such a dreadful place :yuck:

Funny you should say this. I called a friend yesterday, who is a mechanic, and his wife tells me he's in Teesport on a job. I had a pint with him last night, turns out he's been hired by Vauxhall to work on the Corsa for a week, I can only guess it's the new one, he said it was, but he's not too clever with cars (yes I know that statement sounds daft as he is a mechanic, but he works on big trucks for the US Military).

I'm not technical but it's something like...

...the bracket that holds the handbrake/cable thingie together and onto the car should have 4 welds and due to a production line fault they only have 3. It seems that when the handbrake is pulled the bracket works loose and snaps. It's too difficult to get a 4th weld in place to stop this happening so my mate is working through the fleet to put "a rivet" in it's place...

He was told that there will be a recall for any (lots) that have already gone through. Like I said, not 100% sure that this is the new one, but I would guess so..?

LMAO :D

Kinda found something quite amusing and kinda shocking today....

Was driving home and drove past the vauxhall dealer and there was a new corsa outside plastered in graphics, i thought damn thats an ugly car.... Got me thinking though and decided to have a look at its prices on the net and i was actually quite shocked with what i found....

I decided to compare the 1.7 cdti sxi 3 door corsa to the 1.9 mjtd Grande punto sporting... Corsa has 125bhp and is in its sporty get up and the GP has 130bhp and is in its sporty get up also, and its pretty obvious to see the cars are pretty much rivals.... (this is all based on the car companies website prices)

So lets start with the GP...
Basic price in black is £12645
Standard features on the sporting are:
17" wheels
Aircon
Multifunction trip computer
ESP, ASR, MSR, ABS, EBD and hill holder
Blue & me
MP3 cd player

Onto the corsa.....
Basic price in black is £12795
For this you get
No aircon (is an extra)
16" wheels (17" are an extra)
trip computer (multifunction is an extra)
No bluetooth kit (costs extra)
No ESP or traction control, etc (costs extra)
The mp3 cd player is an extra in another pack of extras
and the multifunction trip computer is also added in another pack of extras....

So finally lets work this out.....Believe it or not!

A Corsa 1.7 cdti 125bhp sxi 3 door with the options to pretty much bring it to the same spec/equipment level as a basic grande punto sporting (both cars in black)

Will cost you...

wait for it....

£14095!!!
This includes a £900 online discount apparently too...

For this price your still missing the mp3 cd player and multifunction trip computer, but i havent added these are in a pack of extras and would add stuff the GP doesnt have or would need to be added as an extra on it.... Go take a look at the vauxhall website, i was actually quite shocked looking at it earlier...

Anyone still wondering how they made the new corsa look such a bargin price car? They made everything an extra! Thats how!

Thats the way forward now you only have to look at the mini - first glance the car is reasonable price - then you realise every thing is optional extra. clever marketing to get get you in the showrooms

lol, typical expensive crap...

i had an invitation through the door yesterday to the grand opening on the 14th of october. i gonna go and see what this thing looks like in the flesh. put myself down for a test drive as well so i will give some feedback on how it drives... should be interesting,

hah.. it should be interesting. the only reason im going is because i have the chance to win one.. which i can then sell to fund my fiat obsesion.. :slayer:
plus i can rag the ***t out of it as chris said.

i have been looking at the grande for some time now has my heart is set on it, after my test drive in the 1.9.. :worship: But i saw mike's stilo up for sale yesterday and im traveling the 150 odd miles up to see it in the flesh.. so i may be one proud owner of a 1.6 dynamic stilo in the not so distant future. as long as it all looks in shape.
