Hi, can anyone recommend an external, highly-visible, steering wheel lock that fits the 500 ( pref without scuffing the leather steering wheel1)? I know there already is a steerign lock, but have come over all protective of my 500 and wanted some extra-deterrent ...

I'd be interested in knowing this too. I've used a Halfords branded version of a Autolok 2000 for the past 10+ years, but it doesn't fit very well on the 500 wheel - the centre part of the wheel seems too proud of the rim, if you see what I mean.
I know there's an immobiliser on the 500, as with every car nowadays, but the thieving swines who like to nick 'em still seem to think that they'll have a go. Hopefully a wheel lock will encourage them to try another car instead!

TBH I wouldn't bother waisting your money!

Cars nower days are almost unstealable without the key.

So putting a steering lock on won't help at all, and if they steel your key to take the car I assume it'll have your steering lock key on it also

Cars come with factory steering locks which should be adiquate (y)

Jon.

We know that modern cars have steering locks and immobilisers, but that doesn't stop useless crooks from mangling your locks, popping your windows and messing up your ignition barrell. Having a highly visable steering wheel lock will - they'll simply move on to have a crack at another car without a visible lock. Its a phenomenon called "crime displacement".

Pttf TBH if they want a modern car they'll get the keys (as per my previous post) and if they get your car keys I'd assume they'd also have got the key for the steering lock.
