hi all
hope this helps some people who need to replace their stop solenoid
i had to replace mine because of the transponder.. basically it woild not start every time .. just when it felt like it
i managed to read a few forums but none were clear
there was something in ausiefrog who mentioned an angle grinder so i thought go for it
it is possible to do in situ but dont rush the job
1...where i have the yellow boxes there was a stop bolt that has to be removed .. i didn't replace mine as it kept dropping and i saw the other end did the same thing anyhoo
2...the red arrow points to a clip that needs to be removed .. the clip you see covers it to hold it tight again as the origional clamps the 2 pieces together and i couldnt get it to fasten back up
3...the blue arrow pints to a T shaped inlet that needs to be out the way to get the grinder in .. it turns anti clockwise but wil not turn if the stop bolt is still in .. the part it blots through will have to be forced out the way a little for the T piece to turn
4...under the cover which is not in the picture as i cut it off ... is a solenoid which has 3 black wires comming out the top .. i was carefull to cut just on top of this as i wasn't sure what was under the casing i have tried to redraw it ( pardon the roughness) it was covered by another thiner piece of metal hex shaped which was usefull to use as a hex spanner to put the new one in ... but useless to help remove the origional as it was round .. this was removed with pliers
after i took it out i was able to cut the rear of the case off to tidy it up ... the first cuts are on the front and side then i used mole grips to lever the rest out of the way
5... hind site ... after cutting and before removing the old solenoid blow out the dust incase it falls down the hole
6... the wire that i replaced goes to a live from ignition
my relacement part number was ... 7185-900W ng
