Hello My First post,so here goes...
I need to change the clutch in my girlfriends MK 1 punto 75 SX.
The haynes manual say's to remove the exhaust down pipe, i 've had a quick look and the Bellhousing looks clear of the exhaust and should therefore come away ok, without removing the exhaust ??
Also there seems to be a 'scraping' type of noise coming from the rear off-side of the car which seems to either quieten or disappear when a passengers in the back, could this be a shock absorber or trailing arm fault ??
Thanks in advance.

Hi, yeah depending on how the exhaust has been fitted you might get away with it but sometimes it does have to be removed. See how you go. Scraping noise, could possibly point to rubbing somehwere or knackered joints perhaps. Rear suspension is prone to wear on older Puntos, probably best to get the car up off the ground, rock the wheels, check for free play and if safe to do so inspect the shocks and arms for obvious wear. If shocks are knackered get Spax ones, don't bother with Fiat standard ones.

Spirito di Punto | M-reg 55SX, black, 5dr. Clear repeaters. Remote locking fitted, no light confirmation yet though - need relay fitted

I've done a full gearbox swap on my 55SX without touching the exhaust, if your car has a similar downpipe arrangement then it should be fine.
