It looks like my daughters Mk1 diesel Punto needs a new clutch.

It's getting harder and harder to select gears and its stalled a few times.

Can any one recommend a good place to get it replaced? One of the national chains maybe?

Good news... well... kinda.

Turns out that it was the slave cylinder on the clutch.

Still £130 fitted by Mr Clutch in Warrington.

The clutch for the 1.7 diesel is between £230 and £290 (depends on the one thats fitted) for anyone that is interested. There are 2 different types for the 1.7 diesel model.
They can't say which until they have clutch out on the bench [V]

Blimey, that's expensive. I can have a new clutch for my 55SX done for around about £100 if I shop carefully around town, which is nice to know when you're 20, a student, and skint[8D]. I think mine might be slightly on the way out as the useful travel is now somewhat limited, but it must involve less man hours to change or something. Probably easier to get to - the 1.1 engine has acres of space around it:D
