Hello

I have just bought a second hand punto (well fourth hand) and the engine has a strange tinking sound. It is not really a rattle, nor pinking, more like someone tapping a glass with a knife - the noise is definitely coming from the engine.The noise also gets faster as the engine gets faster. I am no mechanic and have no real idea whether the car is about to blow up or whether the car will last until its MOT and annual service in December.

The car has done some 51000 miles and has a FSH and I am also told that the timing belt was changed at 40,000 miles.

Have I bought a duff car? Is it expensive to fix?

Sticky or dry bearing maybe?? Mine makes a god awefull queelling sound when it feels like it, tracked it down to cam belt tensioner bearing, cost £2.28 to replace!!!!
