hi guys
a week ago the head gasket blew in my car. I had the head gasket replaced and everything was fine until today. I was stuck in traffic and my car started making a really loud horrible noise for a few seconds. Half way through my journey the car started smelling very hot and when i got there i checked under the bonnet and noticed there was no coolant left. none of the hoses are leaking. Also i topped the water up and went for a short drive and when i got back the water was gone again.
I drive a mk1 1999 punto 1.2 8v
please help!

Looks like you may have done the head gasket but not the cause of the original failure.

Refill with coolant -- not water! -- bleed and run the engine up to temperature. Check for leaks. Most obvious places (which are not that obvious) are from the water pump and the water pump rail, where it joins the water pump. The water rail is the tube hat runs along the front of the engine, just above the oil filter. Check also that the radiator fan comes on.

You'd be wise to get a compression test done. Post the results here.

I've looked all over and i cannot see any leaks at all. But have noticed that the radiator fan is not coming on when the car gets hot. Also could the fan belt slipping cause any overheating problems??
cheers

Fan belt drives the alternator, so slipping will only cause the belt to overheat.

Fan should come on if the engine is running at standstill, in heavy traffic, or traffic jams.

Trest the fan by applying 12v (+ and -) to the flan connector.

Change the thermostat,

Compression test and/or coolanr pressurisation test.

Sorry for the late reply guys. Been busy! I have replaced the thermostat and all is good :) cheers for all the help! :)
