my nearest one is different to that, i think its vandal proof as people kept nicking the panels
Well yes, those panels are worth a lot as they are expensive, but still need a turbine to cover for low light and use a guiding system to track direct sun. For us punto owners a cheap solar panel put on the dashboard tracking the clouds will not do anything in the middle of winter.
By the way this is not a debate, is just a realistic view of what you should expect if you thinking in investing in cheap solar panel. The system will probably have a battery as backup that can charge when is sunny or windy and use the battery at night. What about at night when its not windy, does it go off or does it have my mouse idea as a backup?
you could trickle charge through the cig lighter with one of them solar panels i have seen in the shops... no idea how long it will take from flat and as i mentioned before overcharging batteries is bad and a solar panel will not stop charging once its fully charged..
Battery charger is not alot of money just go buy one.
as for the solar chargers......
the large one in maplin shoves out ..137mA it will take a LONG time in good conditions to put any usable charge into the battery..
