The bump strips on the side of a mk1 punto, they are just clued on, aren't they?

also is it smooth underneath them? thinking about removing them but not sure what the finish will be like, anybody else done that? any pics?

I was going to take them off but someone on here said the glue is too hard to get off and will take the paint off! if im wrong (which i hope i am ill be taking mine off too) does anyone no how much it will cost for colour coding them all round? for a 5 door?

Some are glued on and some have holes in the doors.

The easy way of checking is to take the door card off and see if you have anything come through along the line of the bump strip...

Hairdryer/very hot day + nail polish, soap and wax when your done otherwise.

i have never ever ever seen a mk1 punto with holes under the rubber on doors, and ive seen a few

Would remove them if you were going to do anything. Saw a red mk2 punto the other day with bump strips and front rear strips coded. Looked a bit too colour coded and a bit naff imo. Down to personal preference i spose tho.

I took mine off using a heat gun, which did the job but in certain places i heated it up too much which melted the paint as and took it off.

I've painted over it with a touch up pen at the moment but when the weather picks up I'll rub it down and spray it!

I tried it the other day on my mk1, just have a look around it before you try it for bubbles or flakiness of paint. As I got about half way on mine and it started to take the paint off with it :/
