i plan on de-wipering the back of my mk2, however, i wanna sort out my washer jet problem as well... basically, when i use the front jets, it runs out the back jet as well and i dont know why. is there an easy fix to stop this from happening? its not so bad when u have a wiper to clean up, but will annoy me when the wiper is gone.

There is a one way valve system in the front washer tube where the pipe splits from front to rear to the washer bottle.

When the pump runs one way the one way valve directs the water to the front jets, and vice versa.

These often play up and leak. You just need to replace that three way plastic valve piece.

got a link for anywhere i can get one? did a search on fleabay and cant find anything.

Hi,

No idea where to get one from, i always just take off another car. Mk1 and Mk2 are the same.

It's accessible from the engine bay. If you look under the bonnet and trace the washer tube back from the bonnet jets, you'll find the piont where the two pipes come together at this valve. I can't quite remember whether its physically in the engine bay or under the inner arch lining. I have a feeling its in the engine bay tucked up in the corner. If you trace the pipe you'll come across it.

that looks like the one too me mate, look at the diagram on the ebay listing, it connects to the 2 front washer jets and then i presume goes onto the rear one. Can you not just take one from a mk1/mk2 in a scrappy?

Epic Fail guys.

The valve is built into the pump. The pull the stalk back and the pump is spins one way and sends fluid to the front, push the stalk and the polarity is reversed, pump spins the other way and fluid is sent out of the other outlet (rear).

When the internal valve sticks, some fluid escapes into the other outlet.

All you need is a new pump.

And how does the fluid get to the front jets?

Look harder at the diagram- clue: the washer pump is number 2. ;)
