I hear chirrping when the car is @ idle and when i press the clutch down it stops. so im right by saying the input shaft bearing is gone/going???

Also getting hard to put into gears especially 1st.

Its gunna cost alot to get it replaced and seeing as i have a good mechanical knowledge im considering doing it myself.

Can anyone provide me with a GUIDE or is there one already?

Anyone done this job before?

Could just be the clutch on it's way out but you'd have to check it all once you have the box off

It sounds more like the thrust bearing is failing tbh. To check both though, you'd have to take the box off anyway.

Your diagnosis sounds correct, if it was the thrust bearing the symptoms would be opposite. I've done half a dozen of these repairs and they're not too difficult. Without the gearbox in front of me I can't give you a step by step guide unfortunately. It could yet just be the clutch, because sometimes the centre of the driven plate starts to break up, but obviously you won't know that till you take the box out.
