now now boys ........... its time to ask the question ..

is it not easier to just swap engine for bigger bhp ..... or turbo a 1242 engine

or 16 valve head on bike carbs ......... AWESOME ..... lets have it ....

or try going nuts and selling your wifes shoes and building a:eek: MONSTER:eek::eek:

theres a turbo cinq running about near where i live with 140bhp out of a 1242 8v turbo (y) and he uses it every day. not bad, not bad at all.

tell me what i sead was wrong then?

You making claims about resistors that aren' correct.

You advise for messing with the fuel pressure regulator and using bigger injectors. Totally unnecessary as it doesn't do anything unless you disable lambda control and this would mess up everything in the long run.

The injectors are capable to take nearly double the bhp with the same pressure as their duty cicly is only aroung 50%. And this is best corrected by re-mapping. But maybe you know something we and our associates do not know and we have wasted over a quarter of a million in rr, hardware and software as well as specialist training for mapping and thousands of hours for nothing.

So are you saying if i went outside now and put a resistor, nothing special just one from a radio between my temperature sensor and my ecm that the injectors will not put more fuel into each cylinder and this will have no affect on the performance of the car?

why dont you go and try it? i thought that you were in favour of resistor "chips".

oh... i forgot, you would be best uprating the brakes and chassis before "chipping" the car, otherwise it wount cope with the extra power unleashed

yes, the injectors may add more fuel but more fuel on its own doesnt make more power does it..................

is might sound a bit random but for the past week iv been useing v-power in my sporting 1.2 16v mk1 :D and i was on the motorway goin cheshire oaks and my car hit 125mph now im wondering if the v-power had any affect or was the speedo just playin tricks on me and i was really doing 100-110mph:confused:

with 10 percent speedo error, then yes you were really just doing 110mph (but 125mph sounds waayy better)
V-power has no effect on a car that isnt mapped, or has some kind of adaptive ignition advance.
most jap high performance cars run FAR better on V-power (or similar high octane fuel) because they have been mapped in japan on 100 octane fuel (they get it straight from the pump) - AFAIK.
european cars show nowhere near the same improvement.

this is interesting talk .....

8 valve .... or 16 valve .......

the basics of it .... the kwiker you get the fuel in and the faster you get the GASES out the faster you will go ...... but you need to burn it at better times and open the valves valves longer with cams .. and induction to ram it in ....... yes the handling is just as important .... with brakes .... ( these can make it faster if set up right ..... )

i got an artical some were ... just spent an hour looking for it ... ill find it .... its a good one for the 1242cc single and 1242cc twin cam ....... its a hot ad ///////// leave it to me ..

this is a good thread .... i ask my tuning pal about resistors and wat benefit you get ...........

TRY THIS CHANGING OIL CAN ADD BHP .... but

i have a mk1 fiat punto sporting, i had it rolling roaded today and i was pushin 93 bhp. is that good for a punto sporting mk1 1.2 let me know what you think and also any1 got any comments on how to add that extra 8 bhp ?? im thinkin powerboost valve and possible a new manifold ???? (y) look fwd to your comments

Hiya I had my 1.2 16v Mk1 Sporting on the rolling road at red dot yesterday it got 90 standard then after had the induction kit put on tested again and it got to 97 and after they are going to put the new ecu re map should hopefully get 100 maybe more Gsr Rule!

thats pretty sweet. Mk2 engines have lower power due to stupid emissions regs :(

oh ffs :bang:
wots the point in having a forum if u dont wonna answer questions ROVER
well i was only askin cos it looked to good to be true as its only a 1.2 16v thats all so i now no the facts thanks every1 (y)

I was only claiming there were small power gains to be had...

If i have my head skimmed by .6mm will i need to run on a higher octane fuel?

The lambda sensor will detect it and throw the ECU into default mode or be erratically compensating for it.

The ECU wont go into default mode as there is nothing wrong with the engine.

The sensor is telling ECU that the engine is running colder than it actually is so you will be gettin more fuel into each cylinder.

As for the O2 sensor the ECU will allow for a higher emission level as it thinks the engine is cold.
