Don't think it will physically fit, you would be better off finding a 16vT to fit into your Mk1 Punto.

I know someone who's looking for a crash damaged 20vT Coupe, let me know if you're interested in selling it.

Theres a project on puntosports forum called project stealth iirc, its got the 16vt in and a good guide to suit. As with any car like the punto, the chassis wasnt really designed for all that extra weight though, so it would need extensive chasis work. If you wanted, build a frame for the 20VT to go in the rear?

Nah i'll probably only have the fiat for a few more month then probably end up selling, will see what im like with money nearer the time though :)

not a ford, every f**ker has got one lol, not quite sure i like the new VW Polo :)

might even wait another year or so then get a punto GT :D

would rather do performance mod's on it than body ones

concourse has different sections but primarily its a standard car with absolutely everything renewed or cleaned to perfection, and detailed. fiddly but extremely rewarding, im going for it with my project.

Sleepers rock, although i dont like, there was an escort van with a cossie motor in fastford last month i think it was. had dents rust n alsorts lol.

well when i said sleeper i didnt mean like rat look, just the bodywork to be in standard form :)

wheres littlepip17 anyway he'll tell me what the crack is with this coupe engine lol

fiat punto has 1.7 diesel which is the same block as the 1.9 diesel which is the same block as the 2.0 16v petrol coupe engine

so yea that will fit with diesel suspension diesel engine mounts and water pum as it's an engine mount iirc and diesel gearbox will be plenty strong or could bring the coupe box as it's the same anyway it's a 510 box in all

then you just need to make the engine ecu work so you need wiring diagram for both cars so you can connect the right ones the ignition barrel and code box from a coupe will fit a punto so you can even retain the keys from coupe and the code system basically the electrics are from around the same year so basically the same

obviously at this point you would probably want to look into performance brakes and suspension front of chassis may want seam welding so the engine don't rip it off lol

the engine will literally drop right in as far as i know nothing gets in the way

you sure???? are you sure, sure??????? lol

1.9 D - bore x stroke = 82.00mm 90.40mm
2.0 16v - bore x stroke = 84.00mm 90.00mm

this a clue

thats ok me being ex motorsport technician for AWD motorsport and worked on Honda(Vtec Beasts), scooby's, skyline's, Evo's, Uno/punto turbo's and coupe turbo's all the time

the bore and stroke is a clue that there are different
dig deeper and you will see the light pmsl

and how comes the tipo has the same engine mounts as the coupe and i had to fit the tipo subframe to my punto cos old punto subframe was no use as it has differents g/box mount underneath and the to front mounts are further forward than the punto front mount but hey wot do i know lol

Why? Sure he knows a lot but that doesn't mean his knowledge is flawless...

No disrespect meant to any of the Fiat techs on here by that post

Spot on mate
i know because iam doing an conversion just now, if you don't try it you wont know what your in for.

Edit i know local fiat technician (ex college mates likes) and they don't hav a clue bar the basics (no offence peeps)

i mean the exterior of the block the actual casting and mounts are identical obviously the crank throw bore rods pistons and stroke will be different it's a different displacement i wouldn't expect them to be the same

and you would need a diesel sub frame not petrol for the gearbox rear mount to work

basically I'm saying i have never done this so can't tell you every single detail but i cant tell you it can be done with off the shelf fiat parts alone apart from the exhaust would need a few mods

and no one said your stupid and don't know anything i'm sure your very talented
