the car is a 1999 mark 1 punto.

every now and then ,the rear wiper stops working and then will start workingwhen it feels like it.

the wiper washer fluids always works.

any one come across this and what should i check first?.

Had similar problem, had to remove motor and strip down ,found the spindal that connects to wiper arm was seizing ,cleaned and new grease no problem since

I had a similar problem - the wiper would not stop! The problem then started happening with the front wipers as well. It turned out to be the switch on the steering column that was faulty - the whole darn thing needed to be replaced.
