The sensor near the dipstick is the one for the guage. The one in the picture is the ecu temp sensor and can be found on the right hand side of the inlet manifold.

Rich.

under the air box on the right side u can`t miss it... it has a blue (and black i think) wire on it... (sorry 4 my last post I didn`t read it well)

yup, right side, black tail, bugger to remove without blood running from your knuckles (its real tight with plumbers tape in there, then when it does come out, there are lots and lots of threads!!).

also beau, sort your cam belt cover out!!!
mine has now broken ALL its tabs and was hanging onto the belt!!! I don't think its actually touched it, but there was maybe only 2-3mm init!
fixed it with a bootlace!! tied from inlet mani bolt-belt case- engine lifting eye- and back again.

EDIT

also where did you get your new sensor from? my cars either not warming up enough ever, the fans cutting in too soon, the thermostat is opening too soon, the temp gauge is just being plain italian. want to start with coolant and temp sensor for fueling
