Whats the right grade oil to put into me 1.2 8v punto?

I know to buy synthetic, but what make and what grade??

(i called halfords & they hadnt heard of Selenia? - muppets?)

Selenia is fiat main dealer. Dont go to halfords go to motorfactors or non-ripoff car spares shop and look in there book for the make of oil they sell, it will have your car in the book.

Selenia probably isn't as good as a quality synthetic like magnetec. If Halfords have got a 5 litre deal on get it there. I used to work there and oil is one of the things they can't cock up.

the official grade is 10/40

i agree with pete, the only oil reccomended is a 10w40 semi synthetic.
you dont need fully synthetic oil, we've had engines last 200,000 without it.

5w30 or lower is not reccommended in our country, and could cause excessive engine wear and overheating in traffic.

Go for 10w/40 multigrade from a reputable manufacturer (Castrol, Duckhams, Mobil etc). Synthetic oil isn't strictly necessary in a relatively unstressed engine like the Punto's, but it does reduce wear slightly.
