amber engine management system light

Hi
We bought a f/punto from a garage yesterday and today the engine management light came on permanently amber. There is no loss of power, just the amber light, the book only talks about a red light..

Could it be the lambda sensor maybe.
Engine 1.2 16v. automatic. Y reg. 39000 miles

Any ideas on the value of these vehicles?

We be grateful for any thoughts.

Thanks
Rod

Possibly lambda sensor yes...only way to tell is to get the codes read/paramaters monitored.
If you ignore it possibly damage may occur to the catalytic convertor!

You can check the lambda sensor yourself if you want with a needle type multimeter.

The car has gone into the garage today for the cambelt and the llight - lets see what they say, hopefully they will see an error on the computer and trace the fault, will let you know what they find, may help others on this site.

Normally a stocked part but cant really expect dealer to stock every part of every car...would need a superstore sized warehouse! Luckily delivery times are better than they used to be & big dealerships have advantage of transfering parts from another branch.

Hi
Got the car back today - light gone out, so must have been the lambda sensor, hope everythng stays stable now.. Got a Fiat 12 month warranty, does anyone know what it actually covers, have not had the paperwork yet..expect it is just major items and not consumables....
