1.1 Punto 55s 1996

3 months ago the cambelt slipped 2 teeth, which thru out the valve timing and made the car run like a bag of kak. I replaced the cambelt
and the car ran nice. I started the car yesterday morning and it was all over the place engine missing, lack of power will not go over 60mph. I thought straight away the cam belt had slipped again so i have checked the timing and it all checks out ok.

Any help would be appreciated cheers.

have you checked the HT leads and general connections[?]might just be a loose HT lead

best way to check leads is useing a pair of insulated pliers pull each lead off 1 at a time putting it back in place before pulling the next off when engin is ideling you will hear differance or engine will die the lead that you pull off and there is no marked differance indicates plug or lead

Yeah I'd guess the leads too, especially at this time of year. Try spraying wd40 around the sensitive areas as a temporary measure.

It sounds like you have a coil down to me. Check for sparks at 1&4 And 2&3.

Cylinder 2 was down, the coil was firing a weak spark. A new coil cost a fortune but the punto is now purring away.

how can you tell the coil was firing a weak spark? im interested as have similar issue.
