Hi guys,

Always had the two airbag lights present on the dash since I got the car a few months ago. I'll be honest, I procrastinated on it a bit because I knew from a friend that the Puntos do have their weird airbag faults.

Just had a look at the codes and I got three through:

14 - Passenger airbag exclusion switch - Interference detected / faulty signal - Intermittent - 14
14 - Passenger airbag exclusion switch - Open circuit - Intermittent - 14
02 - Control unit power supply - Value too low - Intermittent - 94

The entry I'm most concerned about is for the control unit. When I first got the car it's battery wasn't great (winter snow ended up killing it) and I replaced it about a month into owning it. Is it possible the bad battery could've been messing with the control unit? Or am I looking at possibly getting a new control unit (little bit pricey)?

Are there any inspections/tests I can do to see if the control unit is all good?

hi they did go corrupted and the cheapest solution was a s/h ecu, disconnect the battery before swapping out, should be cheap on ebay now make sure numbers match the switches caused resistance issues too i used to clean them by turning on and off 30 times

Fiat produced a replacement wire harness to correct this problem. It plugs in at the Air Bag on/off switch on the end of the dashboard & replace a wire (pink) to the airbag ecu & comes with a new earth ring that secures under one of the air bag ecu bolts. It used to cost about £8 or £9 from a Fiat main dealer but they can be found on ebay. Simple replace the wire harness, reset the airbag ecu & the problem goes away for good. There is an instruction video on youtube, just search Fiat Punto airbag. There could even be a link on here somewhere.

They aint that cheap now im afraid...
There more like 30.... because number on road now is low....

The passenger switch is caused by a poor earth and causes issues

Not surprised on the price increase. I had the same problem on my Niece's Punto. Only took an hour to cure it & in the time she had the car it never came back.

Video on how to fix it including part number:
