Hi all can anybody help me to locate the vss of my non abs car. My speedometer is working but having an intermittent eps red issue. I would like to try the vss wiring modification. As i am based in sri lanka and no fiat dealer i am expecting your kind support on this regard. Thanks

Intermittent EPS red fault light could be caused by bad battery, faulty ground cable, or faulty relays in the EPS motor. Why do you want to do vss wiring modification? What do you mean by that?

I was able to find the two wires on inside body computer connector c pin 15 and pin 17 and there are no wires for pin 7 and 10 that mean no abs?. And also was able to find the two wires related to the vss near the engine fusebox connector d4a. Now i nees to know what is the modification need to do and the location of vss. Thanks

Hi id this same for automatic gearbox?

If you have a CVT gearbox there are no gears. Some models had a feature which assisted the belt to move to change the continuously variable gear ratio so it gave the appearance of having gears.

I am supposing the basic CVT does not have the speed sensor you are looking for whereas the box needing to know when to move the belt at certain speeds would have the sensor.

Reading the threads you have been looking at it seems clear some boxes do not have a speed sensor. One poster was looking for the speed sensor and he was asked if he was mistaken and had in fact the dualogic gearbox. Dualogic is a standard manual gearbox with a robot gear change - totally different system.

Anyway is your problem to do with power steering or is there a fault with the gearbox?

Thanks i have a cvt. Forum suggests a vss wiring modification as per fiat service bulletin for non abs punto. As i checked body computer connctor c pin 7 is not available. So i think my car originally does not have abs. I am not sure it has been removed but as i checked the above connector there is no wire and pin. Can somebody suggest me how to check whether abs has removed or originaliy no abs?. To repair the steering red issue forum suggests to use the non abs car vss wiring modification loom.As i have tried everything i am going to do that.

I know you have CVT.

1. What is the fault with your car?

2. What makes you think you must have a speed sensor?

3. Do you have gear selection via a handle from inside the car?

I have intermittent eps red issue but not too heavy. Sometimes working with no red light but after some miles it become red and feels somewhat heavy compared to the condition of no eps red light a.k.a normal. I have new battery and when starting voltage drops around 11.8v for few seconds for starter mortor and after thet it is 14v. I have fixed a low mileage good column too.

In watched the you tube video.
He is talking about the sensor that signals the Speedo.

Yes but there is the suggestion from another thread that some of these CVT boxes use the input speed sensor and the crank sensor in some manner with the implication you cant find the speed sensor because it is not there. Yes that sounds strange but a poster is looking for the sensor on a cvt and is asked if he has dualogic.

Maybe op could look in eper?
Or as you suggest post picture of gear change lever inside car.
