Technical Facet fuel pump

I'm going to have to keep her topped with plenty of chippy oil lol from now on for hills... I. Do thin it down with petrol believe it or not don't need alot and it goes like stink and actually
Does with all that fat burning lol.
I did it in an old golf ahu engine the bosch in that had some clout so does this but it loves it's lift pump..
Someone mentioned that these in tank pumps often need replacing, I'm thinking the mesh on the bottom is clogged in most cases but bushes do wear out after all...
I have no mesh now but really I'm not filling it up with sand so I think it will help with the veg suction ability..
Il just keep a spare pump in the car and get a new bucket from scrappy at some point.

Basically think of it as in tank pump fitted back in as was minus bottom of bucket and that gauze on bottom of pump, which I know is to protect pump but veg is slightly thicker and reacts a bit by cleaning debris from diesel over the years and clogging it..
Next just behind the tank is the facet with a little filter attached....
This is what I'm wanting to put to switched live.
It all works fine and is basically three pumps in series, I believe it will help push the slightly thicker fuel through as mentioned the one in tank is lift pump this is pusher ie facet pump...
I'm just wondering on the ampage rating of that orange switched ignition wire and if it will take the posiflow facet pro243-k
I shall do some investigating on Mr Google but if anyone thinks they know the answer and if I need to put it on a switched relay or I can fudge it in let me know..

Cheers again so glad it starts yay

The in tank pump is far more powerful than the facet.
But if it makes you feel more positive wire in the facet.
I would just splice in to the in tank pump wiring, that way pump only runs when ECU commands. Safety improved.

The strainer filter on the facet may clog quite quickly. If you have problems when you are up and running I recommend checking it before anything else.
Where will you be buying your veg oil?
What % petrol are you adding?

Petrol is pretty damn good degreaser.

Diesel high pressure fuel pumps (and the JTD is no exception) are reliant on the diesel acting as a lube.

You will damage your HP pump with prolonged use of petrol as an additive, even at low volume concentrations.

There was a user on here who use petrol in a similar way to you and ignored the warnings he was given on the potential damage he could cause. After a time, there was a quiet mention of how they had to replace the HP pump.

You will change the viscosity of the fuel itself.

You will be much better off either using the veg oil as a biodiesel feedstock (i.e. transesterification) or not using it at all.

Rockbottom's car - that was about 8 / 9 ish years ago when I was getting a JTD (light blue in colour IIRC)... time flies. Any photos?

the in tank pump as you say is more powerful as I can here facet speed up when the lift pump...
Is firing up but I believe the facet is meant to be as near as possible to the tank which it was as it is near the hoses coming from tank to go passing under chassis...so it's goin from bottom of tank up and over
It could be that it is restricting fuel it's parked up having alot of work done at mo it's had a full suspension kit on... Belt done gear box clutch lol thermostat cv joints tie rod ends and so on..
It had coilovers on that One damper in front and one spring in front are knackered,
Think it was a silverline kit fk..
I may put it up for sale for parts as backs were fine, fk have discontinued the dampners for these but could be modified or used for airbag conversions...

No pictures at mo will try put some up soon..
I had heard this and perhaps may put a percentage of diesel In..
I had heater lines on golf and a device that used a glow pug to warm the fuel..
A place in Leeds does it works out about 60p a liter new...
Il keep an eye on facet filter yes I thought this...
The golf had a bosch on and no problems with pump going bad with petrol thinning it down was quicker to
But I may put some of said heating devices on.
I thought splicing from in tank pump but wasnt sure it was permanently live but I guess it has to be... As that pump will have to run all time engine is going
I mean at first I thought it was a primer pump.

The diesel injection system on your golf was not common rail and in no way can be compared to the common rail system you now have.
You would be well served to not compare the two in any way. The only thing they have in common is that they both inject fuel into hot compressed air.

I didn't mean to compare the two and I'm not advising anyone do it..
But I tried it and it was fine when warm enough but as mentioned I think the tank pump was the one with the issue.
Il see what it's like when it's back on road with extra pump but it runs and revs up nicely..
As mentioned I've heard on forums people doing this, certainly twin tank set up is best...
Common rails are much more refined
