Punto 1.2 8V Active (188): Done first 1000 km on LPG - BRC kit

I am very excited to report that I have completed my first 1000 km on LPG.

Consumption Highway+City Avg (LPG): 6.17 ltrs per 100 km
Former Consumption Highway+City Avg (Petrol): 5.3 ltrs per 100 km
Former Highway Consumption (Petrol): 4.8 ltrs/100 km

Route Description: 203 km Highway + 13 km city (heavy traffic) repeated X 4
Avg Spd on highway: 92.5 km km/hour
Cost per 432 km: 20.68 Euros
LPG/litre: 0.78 euros
Loc: Greece
Season: Summer
Temp range: 20-27 Celsius
Weather: fair

Notes: Moderate hypermiling driving style - folded mirrors on highway (compensated by extra large aftermarket panoramic internal mirror and internal port side/driver side mirror) - engine off when anticipating wait >7 secs within city - I don't do EOC - engine on while coasting on highway - removed spare tyre from trunk to install LPG tank.

Hope this helps

P.S.: Cost of conversion + cost of fitting BRC kit = 900 euros
Petrol price (avg): 1.5 euro per litre

Impressive! I had an old Ford escort works van with lpg conversation..it was 1.4 ltr cvh engine. Did you have it fitted at a garage for that price? I'm sure it could be an easy DIY job with a single throttle body. Anyone in the UK done this conversion?

In the uk u need it to be certified by an lpg engineer before u can fill it up
U also need the certificate before u can apply lpg ""roadtax"" reduction

Not many lpg stations nearby either
My nearest is like 25miles away... a big waste of fuel to fetch lpg

I had the kit fitted by a State Certified technician in a major car maintenance facility with 6 technicians. It took them four (4) days to fit the LPG kit on my Punto and complete all appropriate testing and adjustments/programming.

I highly doubt that one person would be able to successfully fit such an expensive kit ( the orginal BRC injector alone cost 450 euros) in aday, unless we are talking about a highly competent professional who's on the job more more than 10 years. Even then, it would be extremely annoying to do the job alone, and one would probably have to work for 14 hours straight or so.

The technicians were also certified by BRC (an hi-end Italian company that made the kit) and they were specialized in fitting BRC LPG kits only.

The installation is not complete yet as I will have to drive the car over to them one last time next week so that they may complete programming the BRC computer by inputting average consumption values from my daily trips which I meticulously record on their request.

Had a Kia on LPG, Prinns system........brilliant, but make sure you have the 'valve saver' system installed as well............as mine did about 40.000 on LPG, then burnt the valves out.
Cheers Qube O.

Car had done about 12000 when I had the system fitted. System warranty covered itself for a couple of years, no cover on engine damage. Couldn't claim on Kia warranty as it was a non standard accessory...nothing to do with them.
In fairness, the system worked great and gave very very little trouble, saved me a fortune on fuel, but guess what I saved on fuel was ultimately lost on engine damage.....
I could have spec'd the valve saver system when the lpg was installed, but it was another 'new' thing out, and not pushed as being well worth it. Hindsight.......haha.

There is a certain person who did 85000 km on a Fiat Punto 1.2 8V Active fitted with a mediocre quality STAG LPG kit.

Details below.
