hi,

It is a punto mk2b 1.2 8V.
Have this problem that happened twice until now, when starting the engine,
it's shaking and juddering.
Check engine light came on.
Obviously one of the cylinders is not working.

Strangly the Check engine light turned off after a day.

I connected the ECU to Multiecuscan program, and got these fault codes:

P0303 - Cylinder 3 ignition failures

P0300 - Ignition failures (generic)

P0351 - Coil 1

Is the coil gone bad?
Is Coil 1 is for cylinders 2 & 3 ?
Is it the one i marked in the picutre, or the other one which closer
to the windshield?

Is it safe to drive the car when the fault doesn't appear? can it damage something?


I have another punto which had similiar fault ( P0352),
and it turned up to be the ECU causing the problem.
Hopefully this is not the case here.

coil 1 is the one closest to windshield

Isn't ECU cheapest fix these days although doesn't sound like ecu, starting from cold should be good when it first starts to go, try cleaning feed to the said coil pack.

If coil 1 is the one that is near the windshield, this one control cylinders 1 & 4,
and i have a fault in cylinder 3 which is controlled by coil 2.

What it means if you have a fault in coil 1 and a fault in cylinder 3?

clear errors, switch coil packs and scan for errors again
