Hello Everybody.

This is my first post so I apologise if I have am doing anything wrong.

The attached photo is of my Y reg Punto Exhaust. (The rubber mount has snapped and I will be replacing it.)

There seems to me to be a fair bit of rust around the hanger and edge. Do you think this is close to needing replaced and might this be an MOT fail? Again, apologies if this is a super obvious question.

if there is a hole in it, i think it will fail on emission tests

get a screwdriver and gently poke

I will nip and give it a prod and see what happens. Presumably I'm not trying to make one, just seeing if there is one obscured by a bit of rust flakes...?

if there already is one, your little poke wont do anything new, it would fall off anyway

Its so cheap to replace on the Punto and you could do it yourself, why worry either way if your changing the rubber. Try to get a genuine rubber and exhaust though as non original ones bang on the bottom, trust me I know. I have one that does just that lol

My non genuine one fits fine.

Paint a new one with high temp paint, it lasts a bit longer. It's not a straight fail though now. I would just budget one in over the next months

Hanger been split = Failure due to insecure exhaust

But the rust - they cant really do owt about that...
Unless its leaking exhaust gases
Some exhausts have a natural small hole in the bottom for water draining - but not higher up obviously

If it aint leaking leave it the hell alone
