Tow Strap or not Tow Strap? That is the question!

So what are your thoughts on tow straps?

Do any of you have one? If so can I see your pics and how did you fit it?

Got a pic of what you have in mind ? Stretchy things are lethal when they let go. There are tow straps and recovery straps for very different jobs. I have used a 4 tonne industrial sling to pull cars out of mud.

saw 2 cars in a crash yesterday, one was a van other was a jeep with long tow bar at the back
van crashed face front to the back of jeep
jeep wasnt damaged, van had busted bumper, radiator, there was puddle below him which was probably coolant who knows what else was damaged, thats what i noticed when i drove by

Do you not have the towing eye in the tool kit?

or if you dont got rope to tow with, just cut your rear seatbelt and tie it

If you have a tow hoop like that - somebody like RAC/AA/Greenflag when towing on a solid bar cant tow on a strap - cause it flops around, it'll just punch straight into the bumper
a loose strap would just bang on the bodywork = more damage

Personally - i wouldnt
Towing straps are designed to hook onto 2 metal fixing to ensure its secure
