My fiat Punto overheated due to a blown HG so I took to the family mechanic to get It fixed and sadly got a phone call today saying due to the over heat the pistons have welded them selves and the engine has seized so he advised me to just do and engine swap. So I was wondering if any one knows any reliable scrappy around worcester area

Ebay.. gumtree etc might be your best bet,

plenty people breaking these, with private adds sometime's it can be good
as you can hear engine running before removal,

this is better than taking gamble on a engine .. from scapyard that might of been sat upside down in a yard in big puddle of water waiting for punter to comealong
and buy it..nowt worse than removing abroken one to put another bad'n in.

Most of the better scrappies do delivery and/or 90 day guarantee, but you are probably better off buying something you can hear run, do a compression test on, etc.

Remember you need the MPI/cam sensor type motor for a Mk2.

get family mechanic to recommend someone
this way he wont need to fit another broken donkey

if youve got space, eg private land,

buy crashed/mot failer punto, plenty of them about, (ebay/preloved/scumtree etc)

120 -150. take good engine out fire old fubard engine in boot and send it on its way to the scales, 80-90 quid if they come and pick it up, normaly more if taken to the scales,

that way you will have plenty spares for a rainy day too,
