Well after having the throttle body off today for a good clean up to try and eliminate the fault code for the throttle position and it still has not sorted it...any ideas guys,thinking I need to get it back on the plug in to see what the code was again?,I'm in Darlington if there is anyone near me with a code reader,cheers Sean.

Ensure you have plugged everything back in - along with the earth wire on the throttle body too!

But yes - get codes cleared - and see if it comes back on

You can also get MES free and a cheap cable and you can do the code read yourself

The code is p1688 motorised throttle,tried to wipe it the last time it was plugged in at the garage( a kwick fit type of garage) I'm thinking now should I have had the plastic side cover off that is on the throttle body?,maybe to have access to the motor it's self??.im a bit lost now with out spending a fortune at a fiat garage...... Cheers.

Just get another throttle body from a scrap yard, they are cheap enough and will save you messing about, and most likely having to change it anyway

Well you can do a little test to see if its working or messing about

With the ignition on - with air box/ducting removed - watch to see if the flap opens as it should

should be pretty quick too

But tbh reason why we say replace is because there is very little you can do and no spares to allow for replacement to make it a good throttle body again....
