Hi,

Could someone suggest where this oil may be leaking from (see above the red dot in the picture).

Thanks,
Keith

Hi, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

the whole area is covered in oil, really you need to clean it all off with degreaser or a steam cleaner and then start looking for the leak. Oil can be spread quite far around the engine, and can run down little grooves etc so often it shows up some distance from where its actually leaking.

I would agree with oldhammer that its probably the coil pack seal, or it could be the rocker cover gasket.

failing that, post some more pictures from higher up on the engine, and from different angles, and that might give us more of a clue.

Thanks for the replies.

If I need to replace the o ring on the coil pack, does the valve cover have to come off?

I'm going to replace the valve cover gasket first and see if that fixes it.

Thanks,
Keith

No.

The secret to success with the valve cover seal is absolute cleanliness (acetone, panel wipe, ether or some decent solvent on the mating surfaces), a little silicone sealant, and not overtightening the bolts -- they should be a little more than finger tight. Helps to let the silicone go off before starting the engine, and do thoroughly clean the inside of the breather pipe.
