Hi,

I have got hold of a 2010 1.4 8v from a 2010 Grande Punto with just under 2000 miles, im going to hopefully make it work in my Mk2!

I will be using the Inlet Manifold, TB, Injectors, Coilpacks ect from my 1.2 so it will work with my current ecu.

I already have a ported head on my 1.2 with a P75 866 camshaft, im wondering if my mk2 head will be better than the standard 1.4, and will the 866 camshaft be better than the standard 1.4 8v camshaft?

also my fingers are crossed as to wether my original flywheel/clutch will fit on the 1.4.

Its all a bit of a gamble at the min but i have everything sat waiting to do the conversion, im just waiting for better weather and time as im at uni.

Your head might be better. You'll just have to compare.

The ECU will run it, how well is a bigger question. A remap might be advisable.

Clutch and flywheel should fit. The 1.4 16v engines use a bigger flywheel than the 1.2 16v (has a bigger friction area, but is otherwise the same, needs correspondingly bigger clutch) -- dunno about the 1.4 8v.

Few people have played with the 1.4 8v (the 16v is now cheap enough). 2 Polish ones went bang, but I have no details.

Cheers, help is appreciated!

I presumed I'd need a remap, I figured the easiest option is to stick with my ecu for now.

I think il use my inlet manifold ect as its got a fly by wire TB, and my supersprint exhaust manifold and just put it in as a standard 1.4 first and get it running, then I can play with the heads and camshafts!

It's got an aircon pump too which will be going but doubt anyone would want it!

Thanks!

Yes it will work, the 1.4 block and the 1.2 block are exactly the same, it's just that the 1.4 is a long stroke engine. So I would use the flywheel clutch from the 1.4 engine and just stick with your punto box if it is in good condition.
