I have a 1.2 8v punto 2002
After changing the cambelt and headgasket i had to set the timing by the flywheel marks and now it runs really badly, there is a constant puff of smoke from the rocker cover breather and if i connect it to the airbox the motor dies. When i try to accelerate the engine stutters and stalls.
Give me a clue as i am stumped now, thanks in advance

RC is usually right about timing issues. :worship:

The gasket can be fitted back to front which blocks the oil feed to the head. While deffo not good it wouldn't cause the smoke. When it is running make sure the cam is getting an oil supply. If its dry the head gasket went in wrong.

thanks for the answers everyone i've double checked everthing and the head gasket is definitely right way up, pretty sure the timing is ok by following guides on here. any more suggestions?

ok timing is done and it starts and runs but revs go up and down, apparently it done this before i got it. it struggles to pull away on low revs and stalls if i dont keep my foot on the accelerator. don't want to give up as it's a lovely car.

Throttle body needs a good clean out maybe? Hopefully not a dodgy throttle position sensor...
