Alright lads , recently bought an R reg Mk1 punto s 60 and having a few problems with it.
1. Headlights are really dim , was thinking of adding a Xenon kit but looking at a video on youtube it seems quite hard.
2. It sometimes stalls on start up when its cold , something wrong with the auto choke or something I reckon but who knows. Gonna give it a service sometime soon and will have to look at injectors (no idea why but might aswell check them out).
Cheers lads

1 Look closely at the reflectors are they losing the silvering? Fit new headlight bulbs but maybe the battery is failing get it stress tested.

2 Give a it a proper service previous owner cant be trusted to have done this side of last year:
  • New plugs and new leads
  • change oil and filter
  • change/clean air filter
  • change coolant - make sure its properly bled to remove air
  • change brake fluid - pump new fluid through each brake until it flows clean.

Yeah was thinking about doing that , wasnt gonna do coolant or brake fluid but might aswell , might just give it a full check , lights , tyres , brakes etc ready for its MOT next year , no means an MOT tester but doing vehicle health checks on cars on work experience , I know what to look for to an extent. Will look at the lights sometime soon and get back to you. Do you know what bulbs it takes?
Oh yeah forgot to add ... battery seems fine.

Take the bulbs out and have a look. They need to be changed if discoloured. Or just go and get a pair of superbright halogens. The supplier will lookup the bulb type.

The brakes job is a bit of a pain but well worth doing as you'll get to know if any bleed screws are seized. Brake fluid absorbs moisture through the seals, this corrodes the caliper and when its hot it boils causing brake fade (pedal gradually goes down to the floor half way down a steep hill - very nice).

Coolant is usually neglected then folks wonder why they get a frost burst or head gasket failure.
