Fitting to a MK2 1.2 8v is a piece of p*ss.
If you're an idiot it shold take you 40 minutes at the most.
If not, anywhere between 15 and 30.
But I honestly wouldn't bother with the K&N. Now that I've got the BMC CDA (sure, it's twice the price), the K&N is shameful in comparison.
Yes, if you're ONLY after a noise, go for it. But that's a big way to blow £75. I'd suggest saving for the BMC and then looking onwards towards a better exhaust at a later date.
The K&N on the 8v is a poor design - it simply draws too much heat from the engine bay (regardless of how many hoses you add). The BMC is a closed filter and draws the air directly from the front so no warm air is brought in.
The main problem with the K&N on the 8v is that it's right by the engine, it has a 360 degree exposed element and the hoses only point at the front (or side). This means you've ALWAYS got part of the filter being exposed to warm air.
At first, you BET the K&N will put a smile on your face but over time I guarantee this will fade and if you compare it to the BMC you will wish you'd spent the extra (if you can afford it).
Just my 10p's worth but I've been through this myself and have in the end luckily sold my K&N at only a bit of a loss.
If you want to know more, just ask (and no I'm not on commission - just want you guys & gals to get the best).
