Technical how hard is it to fit a induction kit???

Took me about 20-30 mins and i was clueless just before i started. Is pretty simple just follow the intructions the kit comes with and make sure you dont take the fuel line out like i did (DOH!) :D

Id recomend gettin someone to help you like a mate just as its much easier with two people.

Ye it was a K&N 57i one for my MK1 1.1 Punto. Im not sure what u mean by another hose to get it working but if you mean a cold air feed then it should come with one. I just bought another 2 for it and managed to find a good place for one but struggling to place the other one in.

You will notice a performance difference. I have a K&N on a MK1 1.2 Sporting. THe difference I found was smoother and faster acceleration, BUT you do need the cold air feed. That was the hardest part of the installation for me mainly because it is bloddy fiddley trying to remove the blocking plate behind the front grill. IT is all attached now, but I would recommend fine mesh across the grill to stop large objects ie leaves flies, travelling up to the filter.
The fitting instructions are well written clear and include excellent pictures of the car you have bought it for.

Oh yeah, and the car will sound great.

And £74 is good...mine cost £89.

PS...Opinion is that K&N last longer than Pipercross

so all in all a simple job, i got a mark 2 1.2 8v will i notice any diffrence in performance???? www.fastfiat.com cheapest place so far @£74 quid??? anyone seen lower???

On the 8v engine its really easy to fit, toom me about 20mins tops first time (now takes about 5mins when im taking car to dealers ;) ) If you disconnect your battery after fitting the kit, for an hour or so, then reconnect it and drive like a tosser (with your foot to the floor) The ECU will teach itself that more air is coming into the engine and adjust the mixture....I think!

Fitting to a MK2 1.2 8v is a piece of p*ss.

If you're an idiot it shold take you 40 minutes at the most.

If not, anywhere between 15 and 30.

But I honestly wouldn't bother with the K&N. Now that I've got the BMC CDA (sure, it's twice the price), the K&N is shameful in comparison.

Yes, if you're ONLY after a noise, go for it. But that's a big way to blow £75. I'd suggest saving for the BMC and then looking onwards towards a better exhaust at a later date.

The K&N on the 8v is a poor design - it simply draws too much heat from the engine bay (regardless of how many hoses you add). The BMC is a closed filter and draws the air directly from the front so no warm air is brought in.

The main problem with the K&N on the 8v is that it's right by the engine, it has a 360 degree exposed element and the hoses only point at the front (or side). This means you've ALWAYS got part of the filter being exposed to warm air.

At first, you BET the K&N will put a smile on your face but over time I guarantee this will fade and if you compare it to the BMC you will wish you'd spent the extra (if you can afford it).

Just my 10p's worth but I've been through this myself and have in the end luckily sold my K&N at only a bit of a loss.

If you want to know more, just ask (and no I'm not on commission - just want you guys & gals to get the best).

mr coates, im very interested in what you have to say, it aint just a sound for me, can you show me a like or anything where i can read up on the system you on about, maybe a site where i can buy online?????

many thanks nick (y)

And point to note, the BMC still makes a nice sound, just more refined than the booming K&N (which actually annoyed me after a while!!)

The cold feed plugs DIRECTLY onto the carbon box so it works more like a hoover - actively sucking the air to the filter.

In my opinion yes.

I've had both, paid for them full price and I can only say that if you want real performance gains and a noticable sound improvement, the BMC CDA is without question the one to get.

If you want to be heard but aren't bothered by any major difference in performance, save £75 and go for the K&N.

Top tip though, send a message to Andy (nwmlargee) and get him to quote you on a price for the BMC. May be about £15 or so less than the site I linked to.

Tell him MR.COATES sent you.

cheers mate, you have being a great help, shame your in scotland else id ask for your help fitting it to :) cheers mate.

next thing will be a new exaust, side exit one, any idears on that???

He he. No worries. Fitting isn't really much different to a K&N to be honest, I'm sure i'll be on hand when the time comes (especially if you get the two plastic adaptors in the box that aren't actually needed!!!).

I should be getting a Supersprint rear section this week. Again, it's all down to taste but the Supersprint doesn't have a complete saddo boy racer sound. A nice tone, nothing too stupid.

Yep - just the one, ironically I think it's actually Andy who has the one I've seen!

Good price that too, about £20 less so a result.

WELL worth the wait, trust me.
