Hi all,

Firstly, please ecuse my lack of car knowledge. I have just bought my first car, a Fiat Punto 52 reg 1.2 8v, and am having a small problem.

I thought I'd check the oil level. I got the dip stick, removed the plastic cover of what I assume is where the oil goes, but when I try and put the dip stick in, I seems that the pipe seems to be blocked by some metal. I cant get the dip stich down there at all.

Is this normal? If so, how do I clear the path?

Cheers,

Dean

you remove the dipstick from the tube, clean it, put it back into the tube and the oil should be at the top of the flat part on the stick.

you dont need to remove the oil cap.

Ah, ok thanks. (y)

But I top up the oil into the bit with the cap right?

God, I am such a dipstick. I was just doing the same as the poster :bang:

I didn't pay any attention to the level from the hole I got the distick out of so need to go and do it again.

Many thanks
